Ethanol Powered Exige

Found this article on an Exige Lotus has built that will run on E 85 Ethanol :P

Does 0 to 60 in 3.8 secs :P

Seems this fuel might be the answer to the aggro we have all been going through lately paying high prices for gasoline, and would bridge the gap till hydrogen powered cars can be sold economically. :D

Hate to be a damp rag, but it's hard to get too excited about E85 and flex-fuel. As enticing as E85 is by the hype, I'm doubtful it'll make a difference on price. For one thing, we'll initially be paying a premium to construct a bunch of ethanol refineries, especially if ever getting to the point of "reducing our dependence on foreign oil." It'll be a while before E85's cheaper than gasoline. Flex-fuel vehicles also get worse mileage due to tuning comprises. We'll see how the "greenies" like ethanol refineries in their backyard once they get a whiff of the energy required to refine alcohol from agricultural products and biomass. The waste products are far from benign, too.

So far, the only good things to say are that the high octane of ethanol allows for more force-fed engines and hopefully the excitement for flex-fuel vehicles will give Lotus Engineering more work! :D

just last week, an E85-powered Cobalt broke a land speed record at Bonneville Salt Flats, and Lotus has now created a one-off E85-powered version of its Exige road-racer

I suspect that Lotus Eng. USA had something to do with the Cobalt, and the Exige is less of a pre-production teaser than a "look what we can do for you." ;)
