On my cross-country run to work, every time I get behind one it's doing at best 35mph - and that's on the straights where it inevitably sits astride the centre-line so you can't get past. Come to the slightest bend and it's brake, brake and brake again. I'm sure they're convinced that it's going to somersault into oblivion and they deploy a man carrying a red flag to walk in front just in case they forget what they're driving and momentarily speed up a bit too much, :rant:.

Just saw that new Daytona... To me, it looks like a cruiser that's been torpedoed and it's back broke. The front doesn't seem to be connected to the back and it looks warped... Not a fan of that at all

On Sunday we organized a charity run for an animal shelter. Not quite as many cars as I had hoped, but everyone loved the run, one driver even said it was the best run he did this year. So we're happy with the result and hopefully we'll get at least as many cars on this week's edition. I managed to squeeze my own Excel into the picture, no other Lotus. Last year we had 3, I'm expecting at least one next Sunday.

Yes it is, a full restoration, probably considerably better than new. 🙂

There were 2 other 2CVs as well, a white one and a Charleston, both just visible in the picture. I'll see if anyone took some close-up photos of the Dyane to share.

Spotted this rotting in deepest Wales today. It’s an S2.2 Elite manual. Light metallic blue on a Y plate. Owner certainly has wherewithal to restore it but confesses that it probably won’t happen in his ownership. He has several old RWD Escorts stashed away for restoration first, which would be worth more.

The Escorts probably require more work to deal with all the rust...

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense does it? How can a rare sports car that cost twice as much as a multi million selling Escort saloon when new, now be worth half as much! By the way the owner knows that this is the later galvanised chassis model, so reckons it will be OK underneath. In fact it must be one of the very last, since wiki says production ended in 1982 and this is apparently a Y reg, which covers August 1982 to July 1983. It has a problem with the driver’s door, so isn’t 100% sealed from the elements. Hopefully someone takes it on, before it’s too late.

I did mention that there are people out there who might be interested in buying it, but he didn’t take the bait. He’s a mechanic who fettles humdrum cars and restores classics for a living. So obviously he’ll prioritise restoring the ones that make him the most money. The Elite seems to be bottom of his to do list. What do you reckon this would be worth “as is” and also if fully restored? I have no interest in it, but could make contact again if anyone’s keen enough.
