Stirling_Villeneuve
Reminds a little of a Seven in a 2-11 outfit... http://uk.caterhamcars.com/news/telegram-caterham-hq-caterham-unveils-new-aeroseven-concept-singapore-gp Thoughts? Bibs
Nice to see some crossover from F1 in a road car. Wonder what it'll cost? slewthy
Does look a little like a 7 has impaled an over sized peapod! Quote "Intellectuals solve problems; geniuses prevent them." Albert Einstein
Stirling_Villeneuve
True, it's a logical progression although it does look like they've hidden a Seven in there and hope we don't notice! The Caterham 21 had the same problem, although that was pretty lardy compared to the Seven. Short of sticking with carbon I wonder how they'll keep the weight down... and carbon would be serious dosh! That said I'm sure it'll be fun! Kimbers
I agree bud. Not sure of the "Wide mouthed frog" look, but you can always guarantee a Caterham will be fun. Loose Cannon
Ugh. Is this how to get a Seven around new impact and body safety regs? Quote In the garage no-one can hear you scream
mdavies
Chassis: "Based on the acclaimed Caterham Seven CSR chassis – featuring fully independent rear and F1-style inboard (pushrod) front suspension ............." So a square steel tube space frame? Not exactly a leap forward then even if it is well proven. The BAC Mono uses a space frame too, but hardly comparable in any way. No ability to comment on the CSR chassis effectiveness though. Edited September 20, 2013 by mdavies
ramjet
I suppose it appeals to some. I'm not one of them though. Roger 912
Looks like a brick with 4 wheels. I wonder what its Cd is. Is the windscreen an optional extra? Doors? I was at the Earls Court Motor Show in the early 60s when Morgan unveiled the +4+ and that car went down like a Lead Zeppelin to Morganiste. Only a handful were sold before being discontinued. Today, being quite rare, they are quite valuable. I cannot see why Caterham need to introduce another car in the 7 genre. If they want a real winner, they should go into producing the original Lotus Elite, but with suitable modifications for today. I would order mine tomorrow. NedaSay
Am I the only one that doesn't get the fact that they are still using a steel frame protected by a thin layer of solid yet not that hard to shatter - expensive to replace - carbon fiber and what about design, this is not the most expressive car ever. Yet it's good to see caterham moving forward, although this one looks a bit stopgapish to me. Edited September 20, 2013 by NedaSay

USAndretti42
Here's a review from SkiddMark together with the promotional video and more from Tony Fernandes here. I think the styling is quite clever in how it includes various parts of the Seven such as the nose cone. I would expect it to provide less drag and buffeting than the Seven does at high speed and, maybe, some aerodynamic downforce seeing as how Mike Gascoyne was involved in the design. Stirling_Villeneuve
After much deliberation I've come to the conclusion it's a pointless exercise, same old same old, recycled and unattractive. There's something cool about a Seven... something that doesn't translate to a Seven in drag. Meanwhile over at Lotus... ???
