Wally Finland
Well he was asking 47500 Euros back in 2014 before he sold it, so I figure there is no way he would be asking any less than maybe 50-55k....57k is asking price. The Pits
Sorry, way too many Triumph Stag posts there, TLF is now the proud owner of its very own Triumph Stag thread. Enjoy! Back to prices soaring. Hopefully they have since we've been discussing 1970's Triumphs!
Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted October 12, 2015 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 12, 2015 (edited) Yup - £8100 for an s3 with an alpha engine in it on eBay. GTK
Ah pish, I thought that would have gotten a bit more. Not exactly good news is it, I mean if you look at it from the outside, from a lay person's point of view it's got all the elements - the power and bark to back up the looks. Can I throw a cat amongst the pigeons and suggest that perhaps we'll actually never see the kind of jump our peers have. I mean WE are the real Esprit lovers, and we just wouldn't pay more than we already have, so are we pissing into the wind expecting some new breed of buyer to appear throwing big money at Esprits? Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted October 12, 2015 Gold FFM Report Share Posted October 12, 2015 Who knows - all I know is if they had followed the 308/328 value curves there would be no bloody way I'd be sat in one. And the mad thing is the esprit was faster than these cars in the day?? It would seem that some old shonky escort is now more costly than most Stephens esprits.s1 values have gone mad though. Not so sure about s2 and s3. I really wanted a g-car, but now im really glad I've got a non carb turbo unit. Quote Only here once
The Pits
Looking into the Triumph Stag thread issue now Barry, perhaps some kind of thread quality control software has decided to intervene!

Oh I reckon my S2 was fated to me, 'cause the dream had all but slipped away when it came back at me out of the ether. There's a nice story behind it but I'm working on a wee video about it so that's for another day.
Jacques
Geees, prices are on the rise. Just say a set of Nova Wheels over at esprit World for 4000 gbp. That's steep!A year ago, I say an entire Esprit for that Price.Maybe I should sell my AWI's for 200.000 gbp and my split OZ's for 400.000 gbp and go pension myself?Maybe they were once touched by a former employee at Lotus WHO once said good morning to Colin Chapman himself? That will raise their value to italian hysteric territory for sure, as they now have a racing pedigree and a story. We'll see.Cheers,Jacques. swindon_alan
You have a spare set of AWIs Jacques?!?! Hmmmmmmmmm. I will be your best friend if I ever need a spare :-) Quote I tempted fate...now my Esprit V8 IS in bits...(sob)
Jacques
I'm afraid not, Alan. Not that you cannot be my friend But I only have the ones on the car. Plus the OZ splits and the original SE Wheels, which by the Price on the Nova's, should be around 10.000 gbp... I am a sucker for Wheels, and I would like a set of Nova also, but not at that Price. Like I said before, AWI or Lotus should take up reproducing the AWI's. They will sell. Anyone at Hethel who dare do this? Please? I'll buy another set too. And I'll bring a list of friends WHO will also buy a set each. Btw, nice Wheels, Alan Cheers, Jacques. Bibs
AWI would have thrown away the tools, and to get them to remake them you'll need 1,000+ orders. Best bet would be to get a custom wheel maker to try to imitate them as best as they can for a one-off. swindon_alan
It's interesting that there is so much love for the AWIs. I think that they are beautiful, straightforward simple alloy wheels and yes, I understand the OZ attraction but they really do suit a V8 IMHO? Every post commenting on the early V8s seems to compliment them Quote I tempted fate...now my Esprit V8 IS in bits...(sob)
Loose Cannon
As well as being the best looking wheel for the later Esprit they were also unique which is nice. The softer OZ design on the V8s was available everywhere (like the Wolfrace in the 70s). I had a set on a calibra for goodness sake! Vanya
I think 16" and 17" would have been ideal for the SE - the 300 really got the proportions right. Quote Vanya Stanisavljevic '91 Esprit SE | '97 XK8
Jacques
But really hard to get, expensive and hard to get propper tires for. Other than that, they are great. So I have a plan Jacques. Quote Nobody does it better - than Lotus
