Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted December 20, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 20, 2016 Nope @ian29gte it's fitted to the tailgate - so is up in the air out the way. Good place to hang a light off though 1 Quote Only here once

Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted December 23, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 23, 2016 Is the wiper a flat one ?? You need one that's bent like a banana when it's not on the windscreen Quote Only here once

LOTUSMAN33
It seems the Practical Classics price guide has its own take on Lotus prices, I think their researcher needs to read the classifieds over the past year..... E.g. Esprit S1 in concours condition £15k ? Some prices are a little closer to the mark so it will be interesting to compare to last years, I will dig it out being a subscriber. silverfrost
Dave, used to be an avid reader of practical classics a long time ago and always found their price guide to be well off, not just on lotus but most classics. The only correct stuff was the porker, dancing donkeys and Jags ! On the jag note what the hell happened to jag mk2 prices over the years, projects used to cost the earth, nowdays they can be had for a steal ! Sadly like all good mags practical classics and retro performance cars contents of page adverts for insurance, tools etc out ways the actual read and car picture content. Hence why i stopped reading them, miss the practical classics crossword though as its the only one I have ever enjoyed doing or been good at for that matter 1 Quote A
LOTUSMAN33
Dan I subscribed years ago for a year and it just keeps renewing, I take it work now as colleagues like to reminisce over cars they used to own and what they would love if their wives let them! ? I like the 'Rust in Peace' section the most, my wife likes the Mk2 Jag being a Morse fan. Dave 1 Quote Do or do not, there is no try!
silverfrost
Yes rust in piece is a good section, youtube also has some outstanding massive American car graveyards, nothing brings a tear more to a mans eye than a jaguar xk120 with a broken back rusting away in a field with a tree growing through the middle 1 Quote A

Dave They have it backwards for a start S2 76-78 and S1/S2.2 78-81. Clearly its a typo, that would make S1's £30K in concourse, which is closer to the mark. Gold FFM Barrykearley Posted December 29, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 29, 2016 Nah - cheap as chips S1's are. if I refer to my priceguide attached from May 1996 with Jon Roberts orange car on the front cover ...... you will see 1 Quote Only here once
purso
Wonder if everyone will view evora s1s the same way in years to come, maybe the 400 will be the turbo of the Evora range and the 410 the Essex?
silverfrost
Think from what people have been saying on the forums it has already happened, as people like the subtle styling of the S1 Evora already, and personally as a non evora owner I would prefer an S1 not only due to the purchase price at the moment but I prefer the s1 looks. With me it would be the S1 or the go the whole hog with an evora like aerobats Quote A
Gold FFM C8RKH Posted December 29, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 29, 2016 I'm obviously biased but agree with @silverfrost re the S1. I think lotus got the styling just right with this car and I hope, nay, I am sure, it will be a future classic. @purso, I personally think the "Essex" Evora will always be the GTE. That car just has so much road presence, stunning good looks and with the very limited numbers is sure to be the pick of the range in the future. The Evora Sport 410 will be like the Esprit Sport 300/350's. The 400 is the Stephen's car to the S1's G-car Esprit. I could of course be talking complete and utter tosh and rollocks as who knows what will really happen. I do think though that the build quality, design, driving dynamics and reliability (don't start laughing now you heathens!) of the S1 is becoming quite well known and solidifying as being a great ownership and driving experience. I'd like to think the S1 will be like the NSX - for those that know anything about cars they have always known that this car was a whole lot more than just the numbers (which let's be honest were/are not that spectacular for the NSX). And look at how finally the NSX prices are rising. Quote I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way. Gold FFM C8RKH Posted December 29, 2016 Gold FFM Report Share Posted December 29, 2016 I was once, a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, privileged to see a jedi pilot in an Esprit 350 sport. The vision and noise of that car has been burned into my soul ever since, it was quite simply out of this world. I'd like to think that today's youngsters would get the same feeling if they had the opportunity to experience an Evora GTE roaring past them today. There is definitely something about a hand crafted Lotus in full flight that stirs the soul. I only wish I had had the resources earlier in life to enjoy them to the full.
