on the pistons thing - I only have used ones

..but on the valves: some new in original package are there over here

for the liners - I have no special tool used for the fit ..

In case of you could simply use a strong and stiff bracket, something that you can 'clamp over' the block ..or just work in a steady process, so that the liners can sit in the place with the heads already on, and thoseliners dry out within this work process

the type/part-number of those special *JE*-pistons would be good as well   ..think it's time that someone from the US guys notes that on the

#cross ref list

So links to other sites that sell spares .

I need pistons and valves so is there many options for me and guides I expect .

Kinda hoping I can get south cerney engineering to sort my head out at least .

Also noticed the good side of pistons show signs of hot spots what would cause an v8 engine to pre detination .?

Rightly or wrongly, I thought that fitting i.e.clamping the liners was achieved by bolting the cylinder heads to the block.  This means that everything has to be ready.

As I recall, the heads have to be fitted within four hours or so of the liners being pushed in.  This prevents the liner sealant hardening before everything is bolted down.

When I rebuilt my engine, I was nervous about this but it was actually much easier than I had anticipated.  Mike Sekinger's advice that "there is plenty of time" was spot on.  There was.

Edward -you are right on this, but what can we do ..if Alex wants to clamp them down he wants it..

I mean, it is all written down in the workshopbook -so nothing complicated on a rebuild there, I have done it in a small wintergarden  ..the only critical thing is to get some suitable parts.

Sadly Lotus used some non-typical combinations, for example the valves do not match typical 6mm Opel/GM parts in 'stem diameter' vs. 'top clamp style' [number/shape of grooves on the top of the stem]

Hi Alex,

I've always got my valves etc fro Steve at S J Sportscars whom I have found to be cost effective and very efficient.

All the best.

But they don't give a TLF FFM 10% discount like several main dealers do.
