An ode for the big day

An ode for the big day out, English was never my strong point so if you can do better; please try

In Hethel did Colin Chap

A stately pleasure-dome decree:

Where Track, the sacred circuit, ran

through chicanes measureless to man

High speed in a V8 Esprit

So twice five miles on hallowed ground

With cones and tyres scattered round:

And there were drivers bright with extensive thrills,

Where blossomed many Series one, two and three;

And here came cars from the ancient mills,

Enfolding sunny birthplace of Esprit

With apologies to Samuel Taylor Coleridge

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Very good! Can I play too?

Esprit Fever

I must go out in the Esprit again, to the Norfolk meet of the guys,

And all I ask is a clear road, and some premium fuel to buy,

And the wheel's kick and the four's song and the fast overtaking,

And a wry grin on the driver's face - and nothing breaking!

I must go out in the Esprit again, for the call of Hethel's pride,

Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied.

And all I ask is a factory day, with the hot sun shining,

And a track lap in the new Esprit we know they're designing!

I must go out in the Esprit again, in my favourite wedgie car,

To the charity run and the parking-up fun, and meeting in the bar;

And all I ask are merry yarns from a fellow Lotus-lover,

And a quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trip's over.

with sincere apologies to John Masefield.
