Might be a stupid question but would there be a o2 sensor available that is shorter than the standard Lote fit.

The thing is in bits being readied for Saturday and the sensor fouls the engine brace leg (S300)

Major job adapting the stainless by- pass so any helpful suggestions would be welcome

I got a 4 wire universal O2 sensor (86400) about a year ago from here:

You've got to splice it into the Lotus wiring harness but otherwise it works the same (on the V8 at least).

Obviously they might have a different supply now but the one I got was a bit shorter than the Lotus OEM sensor. If you measure from the base of the hex moulding on the sensor shaft where it tightens flush to the flange, to the tip where the wires emerge, the Lotus one was about 6.5cm. This one was only 4.5cm.

It might help but if the fit is that tight the vibration in the exhaust and rotation on the engine on its mounts could still cause it to bang against the engine brace, and O2 sensors are quite delicate. You might need to just plug the existing hole and cut a new one in a better position and have a flange welded in...
