Are you sure it's "only" 243bhp? I think this is the standard power of the 2L but as the S4s has a bigger turbo and a specific ported head I reckon it should be a bit more powerfull than the GT3? Or maybe it's the standard 2L engine from the S4?

(nice parking!)

Jean, Please don't....🤤

I have seen it and I just don't have the space left to park it and to work on it.

I have pressed in a motorcycle between my two oldtimers  in the garage and that is it...no more....

That's the same problem I have and with a lot of parts lying around... I wish I had the space like that:

Nice,

To be honnest, Although my esprit is running great and I have reconditioned my two dellorto's when I got the car years ago, I have always been curious about an EFI conversion.

I have my opel GT 2.2 running on a vintage Bosch L-jetronic EFI system and winter, summer, cold ,hot, weeks of no use..... don't matter. It just starts almost first turn. I admit, that old L-jetronic is not as accurate as a modern EFI with lambda:

  1. NO: It can be finetuned for almost spot on fueling , lower emission and  higher gasmileage., with a self adjusting loop . More accurate then playing with jets ...
  2. YES: It will start better in all conditions and can be made running the same in all conditions. ( carbs never do , because they don't take outside conditions into account)
  3. NO: I can get that high tension from below the carbs (fuel fire risk reduced)
  4. YES: If tuned good, it is also healthier on the engine mechanics. ( I know if not....it can destroy the engine quick f.e. lean conditions....)

I woundn't go that far because with a decent electronic ignition you can get that almost what you saying here.

I would suggest that EFI will correct air/fuel mixture for altitude, nice when hopping up over the Alps, plus deliver a lower emissions output at idle and low load due to timed delivery. Jetronic have proven to run fine on just about anything but the snappy sharp throttle response of multiple throttles will not be there.

Cheers

Bad thing to say when restoring an Esprit,   When they know you have feelings for another car they will cause trouble,  Enjoy the the extra dramas during the s2 restoration now you have jinxed it !  lol.

Actually I agree with that. Superstition aside, they react in interesting ways to what you do for them. When I picked mine up after I bought the car, the very first thing she did was blow a headlight lift fuse upon turning the key. A warning? Then there was a temper once in a while until I started investing some real quality spannering time and parts. She’s been happy ever since and not missed a beat. Oh, almost forgot, she dropped an exhaust manifold bolt right in the spot where I parked her. Unbelievable. Once in a while she even winks at me with one eye when the light pods are up as like to say she’s happy. 😉 Guess we just have to pay proper attention to them...

Looks like you maybe right Mark.  The car was last MOTed and Taxed In 2009.

Jean, I'm convinced there all females. They need special care or will throw a tantrum. And men can't stop looking at them. 😁

...they'll take all your money too if you let them, but they have those flirtatious eyes.

To be fair to the Esprit, when it has a problem it usually requires you to go in the back door 🤠

To be fair to both, I really do consider myself lucky with both a very reliable Esprit and a very understanding girlfriend. 😉

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.
