THANK YOU ! - Page 3 - Lotus Factory Day 2006 - The Lotus Forums Jump to content

Thankyou to everyone involved in organising this, the monumental effort put in purely for the enjoyment of others is humbling. So many things I would never otherwise be able to do.

One of the big highlights IMHO was listening to Mr Kimberley senior speak on the Sunday evening. Inspirational doesn't begin to cover it; he's one of a rare (vanishing?) breed of hands on managers who are authoritative and genuine at the same time. Don't know if anyone else felt the same but after voicing his appreciation of us all as being unpaid ambassadors for Lotus I came over a bit misty and vowed never EVER to be without a Lotus B)

This is just amazing folks, amazing :D

I am so glad that we had such an superb time. I couldn't have asked for anything more than what we had with great company, great cars, great friends and great times. The whole thing was nerve wracking but with all the prep we had done I was sure it should have gone ok, but never dreamed it would go so well.

Thanks from me must go to Kimbers. Without him, none of this would have happened at all and the amount of effort he put into this event was phenominal and was a huge contribution to making everything happen.

Bigs shouts also to MJK, the man, the legend. Marie at Lotus who was a pillar of organisation and was also instrumental in everything happening, her young ladies Annette and Lisa who were ace and so enthusiastic about the event and also everyone else at Lotus, Glenn Smith, Alastair Florence, Clive Dobson and all the staff who helped the day run so well. Also thanks to Christie Becker for my Europa, which I'm assured was probably broken by Clarkson who had it the day before me!

Special thanks to my better half, Laura, who has been very supportive and incredibly helpful throughout the runup and during the event :D

Thanks Kato for a great write up on LEW, I'm glad you had a good time and also thanks to Troy for his excellent and hard work producing the car info sheets, stirling work. Thanks to Celia from Macmillan and Rachel from NAPCO plus special big thanks to out stromstrooper friends :D

Thanks to Roger Becker, a hero of mine who started this whole thing off for me 25 years ago, amazing to meet with him in the flesh!

The biggest, hugest, specialist thanks go to everyone who came. It goes without saying that without you guys and gals this event would have been nothing. The nicest, friendliest, most perfect bunch of people I've ever had the pleasure to spend time with, you're the best :D

I'd also like to offer my most sincere sympathy to my good friend Alex who had the incident on the way home. It's not looking good for the car which took some serious damage after a nasty spin in heavy rain but he is still in one piece which is the most important thing. I shed a tear when I heard the news as Alex is as passionate about his car as anyone and it's his life. Anything we can do to help we will, without question. I rode in Alex's car to and from GY, it's a beauty and Laura had a ride with Alex around the track and had a superb time. Great guy, great car. Here's to a good and rapid conclusion matey.

We made it into the news too! Monday's EDP!

From Brian Angus @ Lotus

Bibs,

Just wanted to thank you for all the work you put in to make yesterday

possible.

I know how much work is involved in rounding up 200 people and making things easy for them on the day.

I really enjoyed my part in the day and I know Geoff feels the same - It is

days like this that really make our jobs worthwhile.

Cheers

Brian

Can't ask for any more than that :D

Just came back to home last night, very tired, phoned to work I'm not feeling so well :P

Words aren't enough! BIG thank you to all :D You made my visit in U.K very memorable, there was always someone asking: is everything allright with you. I felt my visit very comfortable all the time.

Special thanks to you all who transported us all over the places, although Jussi2 was missing/lost sometimes :(

I really feel now being part of "the family", not an outsider. Words can't describe that feeling to met you all face to face :( I was a bit tired all the time, there were so much new things to see and trying to remember all new faces and connect them to names. At the moment I'm very tired, going to get some sleep. This morning wen't with Jussi2 for some coffee, he also want's to thank you all.

Really liked your country, only thing I was missing was a good coffee :( Sunday morning we were walking near the hotel, liked a lot those houses you have there, nice neighborhood. Biggest surprise for me was the kindness you have in U.K, I felt very safely all time :)

Talking english was a tougher than I thought, it's so easy to write here and check some words from a dictionary. But talking is a way different, sorry if I was sometimes babbling. I fully understood your conversations and it was nice to just listening you.

I'm definitely coming there some other meeting also :)

Flying there was an easy job but coming back was a different, all the safety control took 3hours and flight took 2 and a half :D

Like I said, can't find the words, you're all so kind. Is it tear in my eye or is it raining here...................

Check my blog and leave comments/suggestions Jussi's photography blog

Also a BIG thank you from Belgium !

I really love the Esprit and seeing so many together gave me goose bumps on many occasions.

Furthermore I met some wonderful people who made everything even better.

What a great group !

Bibs and Kimbers , thanks for having gone to such great length to make this event unforgettable.

It was truly unique !!

I also would like to thank Kato because without Kato there would be no LEF , so Kato keep it up and I promise to get you the little write-up you asked for.

I am still sad it's all behind us now. Time flies they say but the last days past way to fast for my taste. So many memories now is of course also great.

What a car , what a group , what an event !!!!!!

I will wait patiently for the next one :(

I'm truely touched to be included in your thanks, my contribution was minimal and the hardwork was all down to Bibs, Kimbers and the Lotus staff.

What a fantastic weekend, I couldn't have enjoyed myself more. As I got back in to my little Corsa (:() at the end of the weekend the first words out of my mouth were "I want a car that goes Vrooom!"

It was lovely to meet everyone and sorry to those I told off for trying to talk to Bibs while we were do the registrations and I had my business head on! :D

I would also like to add my sincere thanks to everybody that had a hand in organising this event.

I have been reading back through this thread and getting all pink and emotional!

I feel like Kimbers shirt! :(

I really wanted to say something about 3 pages ago but it has gone already as I've been so distracted! lol i really wish I had more time to have stayed there Monday night and to have met and chatted with more of you!

I can't believe the whole thing ocurred so seamlessly! Not even so much as a hiccup (well... except for Jussi2! :D That must have been quite scary! :( )

I am going to stick all these in the photos thread too but there are one or two I HAD to add in here...

Like Paul C with a beer in one hand and a MArs bar in the other!!! :D

Wow! I'm still buzzing, thankyou to all who helped with this.... The best bit for me was when I asked MJK to tell us more about Colin, for 20 mins he looked me in the eye & told us his best memories of working with the legend. Afterwards I bumped into him at the bar & thanked him for answering my question in such detail, he just put his arm around my shoulders & said glad you liked it!

Absolutely fascinating.

It doesnt seem real, MJK is someone I have read about so many times & then he is standing in front of you talking to you...

Thankyou guys.

Just like to add my thanks to the post - what an incredible couple of days of Esprit, driving in convoy to GY, the factory, the utterly brilliant double act of Bibs and Kimbers at the auction, MJK's incredible stories Colin Chapman and Esprit development, Arriving at the factory, Brian Angus, the tour, the forums and most of all getting to meet the fantastic people that own such fantasitc cars.

Thanks to you all for organising such a memorable time. Enjoyed it enormously.

Charlie

(ps. sorry for leaving in such a hurry and not saying goodbye to everyone - looking forward to the next gathering!)

I'd like to publicly thank Jussi2's good nature! For those of you who don't know he rode down to Yarmouth with me from the hotel...... and I proceeded to leave him behind whilst trying to fuel up! Not good if you're Finnish and unfamiliar with the UK and Great Yarmouth. Only realised he hadn't been picked up by anyone else on arrival back at the hotel!

After a mad 45 mins of panic he turned up having managed to organise himself a taxi. I assure you he deserved a nights supply of beer tokens and the taxi fare from me, but he refused anything beyond a solitary Vodka & Orange.

He was a star and if the roles had been reversed I would have been well miffed. Jussi2 thank you!

Regards

Mat

We were all starting to panic but Jussi 2 is an intelligent man and sorted himself out. You do know that your T shirt has already been designed for the next one? Big face of jussi2 on the front with "Where's Jussi" on the back.....seeing as how you were asked it 50 times when you got back!
