giorgio67
Seems to recall Garry Kemp had one. Try to contact him.

giorgio67
Hi Vin, WHY NOT ASSEMBLING YOURSELF?
vintaylor
Hi Giorgio, originally when I bought the car (7 years ago..) I had no knowledge of engines etc.. Didn't even have a licence at the time.. So I took care of all the interior and other areas and left the mechanical bits to my mechanic. In fact he disassembled the engine and suspension, so he knows how it all goes back together. If one day I get round to doing the Alfa Giulia project, I'll try and do most of it myself 1 Quote Vin Taylor
giorgio67
Ok Vin, I understand, if he will assemble the gearbox to the engine please tell him to: do not forget the FUNDAMENTAL Nylotron washer in the gearbox main shaft if he's doing you box also, put the new type Circlip (Harry Martens have them) on the shaft Ciao Giorgio
vintaylor
Ok Giorgio, The second he opens the gearbox I'll be in touch with you for guidance .. Did you get all the gearbox bits from Harry? I'd be relieved if I can finally buy parts in euros, as the exchange rate is a killer right now.. giorgio67
No, I have bought some parts from Harry and many others from the 2007 Factory Sale and here in my FIAT town from specialist, Harry stock all you need and if you need advices he's a very kind of person, he's a Citroen C35 guru. vintaylor
Yep, I had bought a replacement starter motor and some other bits from that sale. Ok I'll get in touch with him once my mechanic opens the gearbox. Just need the oil pump rebuild kit and replacement pickup gauze and should be good to go with the engine Quote Vin Taylor
vintaylor
Hi Giorgio, Did you buy a new replacement filter ? as Gary Kemp only sells used replacements. Quote Vin Taylor
giorgio67
There was one left, new, here in Italy from the usual Ebayer selling a lot of NOS parts some time ago. I will give him a whistle to see if still has one. Giorgio

I filled mine with kettle de-scaler a number of times and flushed through before pressure testing it and happy that it was good to go back in. It made a big difference to the flow of water through the matrix. If there's one job on the Esprit you NEVER EVER want to do is attend to a leaking heater matrix once all the interior is back in place. Paul just reminded me this evening of my post from last year. I was explaining that my heater matrix has just developed a leak. NO NO NOOOOOOO......
vintaylor
Probably going to have the heater matrix rebuilt. Shouldn't be too expensive.. think its around €80 Quote Vin Taylor
giorgio67
I paid 280 euro to rebuild mine...
vintaylor
whole heater or just the matrix inside? Will take it to a radiator shop and they'll repair all the bits and recore. Quote Vin Taylor
giorgio67
Only the rad core, expensive.
vintaylor
waiting to take both radiatior and heater matrix... Did you buy the fans from SJ? Also is your radiator same as s2? Quote Vin Taylor
giorgio67
I bought Tripac fans from Merlin, rad is original S2 but upgraded to 3 core, expensive too, 420 Euro...
vintaylor
Hi Guys, It's been a while since I've posted an update. As some of you guys know, progress has been slowed down drastically as we've just had a baby girl also just moved house this year. I'm progressing my way to clearing out our garage so I can trailer my lotus over to finish off the build. Hoping to move it in a couple of months hopefully. In the meantime.. still chasing my mechanic to rebuild the engine!! - lesson learned - Always try and do as much as possible yourself! 2 Quote Vin Taylor

Popular Post vintaylor
Hi Guys, I'm still here! Finally moved the esprit to its new (and final) garage! Had a few worries that the cars won't fit, but all fits nicely and with space to work on both Very Chuffed! Looks like I might pickup the gearbox and have someone else do the work for me.. Pretty fed up of waiting for my mechanic to do something! So time to take some action and crack on with re-build! 4 Quote Vin Taylor
TAR
Should be ready for your daughters 21st then? Or are you contemplating a quicker build? Quote It's getting there......
vintaylor
Believe it or not, I've got most of the bits done (interior is all redone), suspension refurbished.. It's my mechanic who's holding everything back. So hopefully once things are rectified, we'll be back on track Quote Vin Taylor
