Clutch Hose Dimension

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I am looking to have my old clutch hose re-done as a braided hose by HEL here in Malta.  Would anyone be able to confirm the length of the hose?  As my old one had been cut up to remove the fittings

Hoping this will prevent me trying to fit the hose back on and realizing its too short!

From memory I think its 3.65m long

One of the best mods you can do to an Esprit, especially somewhere that gets a nice summer like Malta.

Just remember, too short is a disaster but too long is a mere inconvenience.

Cheers,

You can probably get one off the shelf from sjsportscars or some other lotus dealer

But I used a hydraulic hose commonly known as hairy hose, you can cut it to length with a hacksaw and fit the ends with spanners.

It's a good hydraulic hose, used by most machinery dealers, any company working on diggers would have this in stock.

I did have to leave out the rubbers in the chassis sections.

I have the braided hose from SJ sportscars installed.

I measured it under my car.

I have 3.83m

Cheers Gert,

I can easily get one made up here and save the tax and transport.

Does that measurement take into account the fittings? Or is it just the hose?

Hi, I have tried to measure my tube as promised. I make 4030mm. This was difficult but this is what I came to.

I have another picture but I can only upload 17KB and don't know how to make this allowance bigger

Hello.

This is just the hose, without the bends and fittings at the end.

But be aware, that I measured it for you  under my car, which is not easy ore dead accurate.

With this length, you wil be able to do the job without a problem.

If I look into my car, you can easily loose another 20cm in front and in the back, simply by taking the bends different, so dont go shorter.

Be aware that the SJ partnumber for the Stst braided hose for S1/S2 cars is not the same as for S3/turbo cars,( up to 1992) so the length could be different
