Stack unit readout on ignition

Recommended Posts

When I turn the key to ign II and for a second or two after I start the car (iirc!) the odometer doesn't display the mileage but rather all zeros. Any reason for this, I'm just curious.

It needs to read an eeprom to retrieve the data . Very quick operation but whoever designed the dash decided to leave this last in the initialisation. It's good to make sure everything else is working first to avoid corrupting the stored odometer and trip values .

If the system has a fault or an external element is causing the power supply to become unstable (even a very low battery) then access an eeprom in these conditions will likely cause a corruption .
