Correctly fitting the door frames in the aperture on an Esprit S1

Recommended Posts

My car (Esprit S1) has just been put back together after a re-spray and we are having difficulty getting the black door frames that the windows sit in, to fit in the door aperture correctly.

There seems to be a large gap at the top of the A pillar.

They have been adjusted to various positions but we have not managed to solve this as yet.

Firstly can anyone send me some good pics of the area around the door frame showing the shut gap and secondly, is there any procedure for fitting these frames?

Thanks

We need some pictures of the new paint job Gordon :)

I have this job to do very shortly and it seems to be a case of trail and error getting the right number of thick washers under the frame fixing points to give the right amount of throw on the frame...

Looking good Gordon :) You have to change that wing mirror when you get chance - or the Lotus Police will send the boys round ;)

Do you still have the original interior in your car? If so it's holding up pretty well - mine was grey!

Cheers, Paul.

Well as you know Paul i have been trying to get an S1 mirror for a long time... sure one will turn up soon either an original or a new one from the template thats being talked about.

Everything else is as it should be.

not sure if you saw this?

Corgi have tried to cover as many details as they can to make it a true match, down to matching paint codes from the factory and getting a paint swatch match from the car its self

The mirror is only half the problem though as you need the correct looking mounting bracket to go with it. I have both bits but I'm not letting them out of my sight!

No I hadn't seen the Corgi thing - very cool :) Hopefully they'll send you a free box of 'samples'

Cheers, Paul.
