Mood Lighting, how do you know if it's fitted or not?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a launch edition although not badged as one and has all three packs. I've noticed this morning that only my interior ceiling lights on when I open the doors etc. I've read in the owner's manual about strip light under the footwell and fascias, will my car have this fitted?

I am hoping it does and a fuse has blown possibly?

I will get the car out later and have a look underneath and perhaps the fuse box but any pointers I would really appreciate. Apologies for all these silly questions, I am still trying to get to know my car!

Regards,

David

Yes should do. Open the glovebox and look up at the lip between the top and the dash, you should see what looks like a clear plastic tube with lots of little cuts in it. Thats the light bit

I am slightly worried you live round the corner from me and we both have a white evora LE and an audi A5 3.0 TDI quattro.. its not grey is it? haha. Least i got mine first :harhar:

Hi Ryan,

My Audi is bright red and I've owned that for just over 3 years now. The Evora is Ice White and not Aspen White so we are cool on that one too!

As for the footwell lighting, I've just had a look and found the lights underneath. I pulled the covers to find that both bulbs had been fitted incorrectly? I tried to fit them back on to the terminals and it blew the C12 fuse several times. I wondered whether the previous owner had problems with this a simply moved the bulbs off the terminal? I then pulled the fuse first, fitted the bulbs and reinserted the 3A fuse. It all seems to work fine now. I'll keep an eye on that one and see it the problem occurs again.

In the meantime, I will have a look for that strip you are referring to and report back.

Thanks again,

PS does that tube light have a different fuse that operates it?

Rare colour, very nice! Theres a bit of a car meetup at GT cars on Monday evening (Lymm) if you fancy a run out?

Starts at 8pm and there will be alot of nice metal there.. last one had an F40, few diablos + countless ferraris etc. I had mine apart to fit a new stereo last week so will be able to give you some pointers to diagnose it.

Got the wiring diagrams on my laptop so will check on the fuses if nobody beats me to it.

Hi Ryan,

I've managed to find the mood lighting. It's along the dash and across the doors. It's the first time I've driven the Evora at night tonight, so I am well pleased to know it's there and it looks cool!

The meet tomorrow sounds great but we are having a family get together for my daughter's, mother in law and father in law birthdays. I may try to get to the next one. I'll probably bring my Esprit across with me.

I am at Tatton Park on Sunday 1st if you fancy popping down? Hopefully I'll be on the Club Lotus stand.

Cheers,

David

Hi Ryan,

I forgot to say that last Friday I didn't have my Audi A5 as I had traded it in on the Evora. Over the net 24 hours, I realised that I had made a mistake and was missing it so much that I bought it back! I traded my wife's Astra VXR instead!
