Rear bumper removal

Recommended Posts

Managed to scrape my rear bumper today #fuming! I'd rather pull it off and give it to paint shop rather than let them have the whole car, so any hints and tips to get it off would be greatly appreciated. Also where do if find paint code?

*paint code* -front luggage compartement, next to the badges for engine, interiour and VIN code

..rearbumper

-undo the rear valance, undo the carped in the rear luggage compartement, undo the covers for the wheelhousing (keep in mind those covers are in contact with the bumper, as well as the wheelarchextensions are in contact with the bumper  -those bolds will be mostly rotten, so will snap of anyway

..under the lower edge of the Toyota taillights is left/right outer end of the bumper a additional screw, so you would do good to undo the taillights as well  :secret:

HI Anthony,

I think a much needed group photo  of your s1, s2, turbo and v8 is due :) haha

Must look good having all generations of esprit in 1 collection!

Thanks Gunter,

Hi Vin, the scrape actually occurred putting them in my new warehouse at Brooklands so they are now all together at last.

Sorry to hear that Anthony,  it seems that nearly all my dream cars are now part of your collection :)  Can't imagine the excitement you must get opening the warehouse doors and seeing that line up!

Hi Gunter,

I am attempting to remove the bumper this weekend, will I need to jack the car up and remove the rear wheels?

Just need to know what I need to take down there.

Best Regards

Anthony

see those details:

http://www.deroure.com/images/diagrams/15/10_23medium.gif

item 111 covers up the free access to the bolts lower down there in item 55  -you can see that item 71 does have 'cut outs' on the edge, specially to fit those S4s [V8] wheelarch-extensions. So it helps to lift up the back of the car and undo the rear wheels

item 45 in the corners is the screw (left & right) that is hidden under the Toyota AE86 rear lights   (not sure how it is done wit the factory / aftermarket Elise 'Ferrari look a like' light cluster)
