Engine fitting

Recommended Posts

Hi all

My engine on my GT3 is going back in tomorrow , question is gearbox on or off. When I took it out I took it out as one, which was quite tight.

I have already put the two together on the bench, to make sure it all fits neatly.

So any ideas or things to avoid

Cheers Paul

It is tight.  Helps to have spotters to keep an eye on clearances as you lower it.  Also helps to have a load levelr so you can crank one end up or down to ease it around the body work.

Im sure there are plenty more qualified here - cue Sparky et al - but I put my S4 engine and 'box back in as one..  just go gently and slowly and it should slide right in..

Learnt all of the hard lessons taking it out rather than putting it back.

Hi Travis

I see from your picasaweb photos you took your engine and gearbox out as one but put it back in split, is that the easy way.

As Travis says, perfectly possible but have a couple of mates helping to guide it in.

British Fart to Florida, Nude to New York, Dunce to Denmark, Numpty to Newfoundland.  And Shitfaced Silly Sod to Sweden.

Paul,

I've removed the tranny, leaving the engine.

I've removed them together, and put them back in separate.

And I left the tranny, and removed the engine (most difficult)

It was easiest to put the motor in, then the tranny, that one time, but then it may be more work to get the tranny re-aligned for some people.  If you already have them together, then it is fine to re-install that way.

Thanks all

I think I will have a go at putting it back in split, not such a big lump to handle.
