Turboesprit Maintenance in USA

Recommended Posts

I have owned my 1989 Turbo esprit since 1996 and did not have any trouble till...

The bolt that holds the belt sheaves bracket for the cooling water pump and vacuum pump came out, hence no vacuum nor cooling pump.  The only way I see of reattaching the sheave bracket is to take the engine out.  And while it is out I need to change to the new Freon cooling compressor and system as well as the radiator and condenser.

Does anyone know of a mechanic/shop that does this work in the USA?  I am in Louisiana but will take the car where it needs to be to get this work done.  The parts are all available but it takes more than just me to get this done.

Welcome to TLF Robert. :welcome:

I have moved your topic into the esprit engine section. Duck over to the Introductions section and say hi there as well.

Some of our US members will be along to answer your question shortly I'd imagine.

Any other questions or issues with using the forums, feel free to ask one of us mods. We're here to help. :)

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

For forum issues, please contact one of the Moderators. (I'm not one of the elves anymore, but I'll leave the link here)

Two of the bolts that hold the bracket for the vacuum pump, actually screw into the water pump, not the engine.  That is possible to remove without removing the engine.

The 3rd bolt goes through the sump and through the block, and could be easily be drilled out and helicoiled or re-tapped or what ever, without removing the engine.
