Has anyone added V8 fender flares to their 88-93 Esprit?

Recommended Posts

Was curious if anyone on this board has added the V8 style fender flares to their 88-93 Esprit and how did it come out (i.e. a picture)? I realize some customizing would have to be done because of the different sills and bumpers, but wanted to know how it looked on the older body style with the earlier bumpers.

Would it look completely ridiculous with the original wheels (too far in?) I know the Sport 300 flares would look really bad with the original wheels, especially the rear since the flares are so pronounced....but the V8 ones are a little more subdued and might look ok (though wider wheels are always better).

Mark MacKenzie's Stevens has V8 arches on his Stevens:

I'd definately upgrade the wheels at the same time, doubt it would look much good with the original wheels. Here is a pic of a Stevens with S300 arches, which IMO looks great:

Looks the nuts !

I've got to do it on the race car for the Sport 300 look, you NEED new wheels or spacers for the old ones imo or it'll look daft.

I believe there are subtle differences between the V8 and the S300 arches in the way they drift into the front and rear bumpers so you might have to do some chopping + glueing depending on what you want to end up with.

I've been looking in to this same thing, the V8 flares extend down to the rear bumper and down the rear of the front fender and are somewhat more subtle than the S300's but the S300's are only "capped" flares thus making them (in my opinion) easier to fit to the earlier more squared SE body trim.

Paul,

Claudius has a set of "unfinished" V8 flares he is looking to sell. They don't have any fixings on the inside edge but a shop could easily fit them. I think he is looking for around $400usd for the set.

Yeah I did it but also changed the rear bumper and the sils although the front arches don't actually reach the sil, that is a seperate part!! The rear does go over the bumper but you could just cut and fill the bottom bit off it!! Hope this helps

Yeah, not sure if I wanted to get that involved in the transformation...I was looking for someone who just put the flares on a 88-93 with the old style sills and bumpers
