rear diff refurb

Can anyone recommend companies that can refurb my diff. No major prolems with it but since it's out of the car I though tI might get it somewhere for a once over.

I would have a good look at it first, if it has leaked from any of the three shafts, you will need to replace bearings and seals, if the diff was quiet and there is no play in the meshing then new seals will probably be enough.

I am told there is a firm on The Wirral called Voight, I have no experience of them but they do refurb our type of diff.

Anyone heard of motor gear limited in walthamstow? apparently they have done a lot of gearboxes and diffs for lotus's £300 for the dif and £200 for the gearbox +parts...

I used Voights to overhaul my gearbox.  Nice guys, proper Liverpudlians, and v knowledgeable.  Old school - ring them, don't email.

 

I was surprised how cheap it was to ship the box up there from Hampshire - under £20.

 

Bear in mind there is supposed to be a small level of play (backlash) in the meshing.

They are based in Markyate near Luton. I've not bought from them but Bernie there has been very helpfull, he would not sell a LSD to me until I had reassessed my suspension setup as the LSD would mask underlying traction issues that I had.

That sounds like a bargain! I was quoted £900 from Salisbury axles just for the diff.

That sounds concerning - if it seem too good to be true then it usually is!? I only want it looked over with oil seals changing so it's not a big job until something comes to light.

Diff taken to London today (motorgear ltd). Will let you know how it goes!
