Question about these. Are they usually painted the colour of the body, or a gloss or satin black? Just wanting to make sure that when I do get one it's as original looking as it can be.

I would leave it au naturel. I have on mine since it will probably come across a speed bump or two. it's as close to satin black anyway

Got my Series 1 splitter coming soon (I know the Series 2 version provides better airflow but I'm trying to go original. Will decide when it comes if I give it a coat or two of satin black, but I've got spraycans in my garage so may as well use them.

On http://www.rdent.com/manuals/elite_and_eclat/body/ba.htm it suggests that 6mm jacknuts are used, which I can find from eBay or elsewhere, but it also says that 1.5m of spoiler piping would be used. Does anyone know what piping that wold be, and would it go around the circumference of the spoiler?

I've never had a problem with the S2 front bib, and my car sits lower than standard. It will have to be a really steep and high speed bump for it to cause a problem.

Agreed. If you want a bit of fun, watch a modern day Ferrari or Lambo trying to get onto a ferry ramp while you just drive straight on!

My '75 has not got any, but I have a S2-spoiler available.

On one hand, I prefer the sleek look of slim wedge shaped front, on the other hand I have seen Lotus test results, that there has to be some kind of spoiler installed.

Compromise might be a silk black painted S2-spoiler - not original however.

I've got an S1 spoiler just arrived for my Eclat. Will spray it, lacquer it and put it on once the car comes back and will take some photos for y'all :)

Interestingly, the parts manuals at http://www.rdent.com/manuals/elite_and_eclat/body/ba.htm has the spoiler listed as part BA 20, but also lists 1.5m of piping associated with it. Anyone know what that would look like or where it would go? My only idea would that it would go on the spoiler edges so you don't have fibreglass against fibreglass. Absolutely no idea what thickness or size I'd need though.

Hi Dave, your car was my first foray into the world of Lotus as you know and this year is the 10th anniversary of that ownership and our first Lotus showing at Glamis. Would there be any chance of you managing to take a run up North to join the 10th anniversary celebrations at Glamis in July this year. We are having a big stand put on, biggest to date and there will be over 2000 cars in total on display.

When installing a S2 spoiler - how are the scew fixings accessed? Do I have to remove the headlights?
