LF1
Just had confirmation regarding my enquiry about the the Trofeo R for the V6 will be a similar price to the current Trofeo. Ishy
That was my understanding also.... I was told that though the Trofeo R is already available in some sizes it would not be available in a suitable size for the V6 front until April. LF1
Had an interesting converation with a tyre company near the Nurburgring, they said they can't get the regular Trofeo for the exige, only the R. I was finding out if they would be able to replace my tears after a couple of days there if needed. I have asked about in the UK and no one can confirm availability of the R. I seem to remember they were going to be here sometime in April. Anyone else heard anything? LF1
Some comments from recent track days with the Corsas, although not sure I am at a level where there's much weight in what I found (other than how they lasted): http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/53208-exige-s-picture-video-thread/?p=566548 Quote Lotus Register - https://www.lotusregister.com
DK7
Anyone tried the Avon ZZR? Experiences? Handling, grip, wear vs. Trofeo or Corsa?
LF1
Just received delivery of a set of Trofeo R, awesome service as always from Dave @ Seriously Lotus. Fitting them this afternoon, first day on track with them on Monday. Forecast is mainly dry with a bit of rain midday, so really interested to see how they go/last. LF1
Yes. Fronts only just become available. Can't see any obvious difference in tread pattern. There's a big R on the side now. Quote Lotus Register - https://www.lotusregister.com
The Pits
I would be very interested to hear your thoughts as to how you feel they compare. are they more or less expensive than the 'regular' Trofeo? If the wear rates really are 80% better then the fronts would never wear out!
LF1
They are the same price. Was chatting to the supplier and he has run down stock on the regular only going to supply the R now. I don't know if the regular ones will be deprecated? Quote Lotus Register - https://www.lotusregister.com
Freejack
My information is, that Pirelli will replace the none R with the R. Makes no sense to have both versions on the market.
Mep
I am about to change tires on my Exige V6 S. As i use it for sprinting and trackdays I am thinking on changing to the Tropheo R or Avon ZZR (which I use in my Elise race car). @Tom - how are you getting on with the new Tropheo R tires? LF1
I've done 1 track day that was caught short on them because of brake pad issues (one split for some reason). I did about 90 miles on track (Bedford GT) and there was very little visible wear. Will get some photos of the tyres when it is back from getting the brakes sorted. But on the whole i was very impressed. Quote Lotus Register - https://www.lotusregister.com

Freejack
Because of heavy wear of my rear Trofeos, I switched over to the TrofeoR (on the rear only). Here are two pics after a trackday in Spa. The wear of the front tyres is the excactly the same like before on the rear tyres. If you're looking for fun, switch over to the R tyres. Camber is 1:10 and 2:05 front/rear Edited June 14, 2015 by Freejack
LF1
Finally got to take some pictures of the LF1 tyres. Here are the front and rear, both Trofeo R with 5k miles and 4 track days (Bedford GT, Nurburgring, Spa and Le Mans Bugatti - Spa was wet for about 1/2 the running). Front: Rear: In addition to the change in tyres, I've had the Nitrons fitted, the car lowered and camber increased. Night and day to the original setup, I think there is a good amount left in them, I'd never have got 4 track days out of a set of rears before. 2 Quote Lotus Register - https://www.lotusregister.com
Bloke79
I managed 7 track days out of my Hankook Z221's and still had 2-3 events left in them, however, had a tyre let go on the freeway (caused by a puncture) so destroyed the rubber. I didn't even realise the tyre had let go until a following car pointed out there was smoke coming from the back left hand side of the car. No damage whatsoever to the rim either, so pretty impressed with the quality of this rubber. Going to try the Yokohama A050's next though to see how they go. Cheers, matt
Neal H
Wow, that's nasty damage! Was that caused by running flat from a puncture or has the tyre just started to come apart? Worth sending the picture to Hankook?
Gashead1105
Got my first trackday booked in the V6 in a few weeks, so I have a question on tyre pressures for the Corsas - what is the target hot pressure for trackday use? I've seen references to 30PSI all round I think, is that right? With my old S2 on AO48s I just used to aim for hot track PSI to be the same as cold road PSI.cheers Will
LF1
I go with 30 all round to start and keep checking each session. Depending on the track and conditions dropping a bit more if necessary, particularly the front. I've checked in the past with a probe and usually balancing across the tyre ends up around 30 so not sure you will go far wrong.Dave @ seriously lotus gave some decent advice on the Exige here too: http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/77634-anyone-tracked-a-220-cup-yet-tyre-pressures/ Quote Lotus Register - https://www.lotusregister.com

LF1
Thanks Tom. I'm off to Bedford in a few weeks, it's normally pretty cold in early November so 30 all round should be good. What date - who with? We are considering direct with MSV on the 31st November. I really quite like the GT circuit... although it's been a bit of a nemesis for my V6, 2 occasions we've been had to limp home after the first session. Puncture first time and shattered brake pad the second, wondering if we should just steer clear now! Can't go wrong for £99 even with loads of cars - I'll just take it easy at the start of the morning and after lunch! I'm a big fan of the GT circuit as well.
