I have never heard of any vehicle failing MoT for 'very lite steering'.  What exactly does it say on the fail sheet?

Have you used that mot station before? Have never heard of that fail, can understand if it was leaking etc,

That's not a valid failure comment.  Go back and get them to explain what's wrong!

Also, 'spongy brake pedal' is invalid.  It should detail brake pedal travel or specific (foot/park) brake effectiveness.

The steering is very very light and takes no effort to move it, fail sheet reference 2.3.3a and brakes 3.3.B.1b,us

used the same tester for 15 years, not been in another pas car to compare it with.

2.3.3a:

Power steering malfunctioning or inoperative or evidence that power assistance has been removed or disconnected when it is known that power steering is standard on the vehicle

So he's failing it on the basis that the power steering is too good?  I have never, ever, heard of that.

3.3.B.1b:

sponginess indicating air in the hydraulic system.

Fair enough.  Inspect hydraulic seals and bleed system.

Ah, it would've helped had you said that at the start.  It happens with the wheels on the ground?
