Dash panel switch, how does it work?

Recommended Posts

So I've been putting back in the original dash I bought a few months back, nearly all the switches are working but the 'Panel' switch doesnt pull out or rotate, so without braking it how should it operate?

Hi Charlie,

It rotates, to the right for dash lights bright, to the left to dim them.

Regards John

PS been meaning to ask, did you get the gold out of the coach?

Cheers John, thanks for the heads up. My switch must be frozen solid cos' it doesn't turn at all, left or right, will have to get the wd40 on it.

Regarding the gold... "Hold on a minute lads, I've got a great idea, err... err...", cue the music...

Charlie ;-)

Italian job spoiler alert!!!! don't read below if you don't want to know.....

Sorry to ruin it for you but the author said they don't make it in the italian job, the bus ends up in the lake with the gold, Charlie Croker and the gang get away alive. The mafia end up finding the gold and keeping it. This is because he was considering a sequel where they tried to get the gold back off the mafia.

Btw electrical contact cleaner (the non-residue type) is probably better on a rheostat than WD40.

Mat.

I know all about the ending, best left dangling over the edge..."err... err"...

By the way, I've found a spare that seems be be working, it's turning both ways. Gunna remove the frozen one a replace it with this.

How did you remove the knob? Mine is stuffed too, but it looks like there is a grub screw hole but nothing there. Is it a friction push on? Same goes for the light switch on other side.

You're in luck son beam, just finished taking the old stuck one out and the new one in of which I hasten to add is working! Right there are two types on the console panel, a few had grub screws and the psnel switch had a spring loaded button (where the grub screw would normally be) simply press that and pull the knob off! Question, what size bulbs do I need for the 6 main dails, only one is working, even if it does dim on the panel switch, thanks.

Ah, good one, didn't think of that!

mini wedge I think they are called. I found some LED ones on ebay, VERY cheap too. There are a few of the larger wedge ones too I seem to recall.
