V6 at Bedford Autodrome

Has anyone been on a track day at Bedford in their V6? I'm there next month in mine and was wondering if I was going to have a problem with the strict noise restrictions.

Also, in the past at Bedford, they have asked for towing eyes to be fitted. I don't think the V6 has one. Does anyone know if I need to get something fitted?

Hi,

I was at Bedford recently in my V6 and had no problems with noise although I think it's quite marginal.

As for the towing eye, you can simply remove the plastic front grill to allow access to the bar that the towing eye attaches to. I've ordered the Lotus racing towing eyes but they seem to have been back ordered for a while.

Cheers,

Doug

Being that I have never done a track day and that the Bedford Autodrome is just up the road I'd be interested in whether it is considered a good place to start or would I be better going to somewhere like Brands or Silverstone?

Very good place to start. Flat with lots of runoff, just in case. :)

Thanks again Bibs, I've got a friend who takes his M3 round there regularly and keeps pestering me to go along, I don't think that once the LF1 arrives that he will take no as an answer any longer

You'll love it, they're fantastic cars which are most at home on track. If you're nervous, you've always got the DPM to help out and you'll be driving circles around him by the end of the day chomping at the bit for more!

I have to admit that I have done a lot of karting in my time but have always been a little intimidated by the whole track day thing and my probable lack of ability but when I get my hands on the LF1 it just seems the right thing to do as I know the roads around here are not going to let me enjoy it to anywhere near its full potential, eventually I'd love to do Spa, I was watching the V6 Exige lap around the full Nurbergring last night, how exhilarating is that, respect :)

Thanks for the feedback, I was looking last night and Silverstone do a novice session, something like £30 for 30 mins, that may be worth a try to dip my toe in, are their noise restrictions as strict?

I was at the British GP this year and there is no chance of this years cars threatening any noise limits, god they sounded flat :(

If you've done a lot of karting you shouldn't have any trouble with trackdays. They are very regulated these days and very safety conscious. Silverstone is great because it's so wide and also has enough run off for an F1 car. Not that you're likely to have one on your first track day, but most spins can take place within the width of the track plus the Exige will prevent you in 'tour' or 'sport' modes. The bigger tracks have variable noise limits and do sometimes have 'noisy days' where your Larini would be fine but they are fairly few and far between these days. Bedford is one of the strictest regarding noise however.

It would be very hard not to enjoy an LF1 around a UK circuit. In fact, you'll only really be able to fully appreciate the Nitron dampers and immense brakes on a circuit, the road will not give you many opportunities to do so.

Thanks again The Pits, you speak a lot of sense :)

Looks like the LF1 and me are off to Silverstone in the near future, really can't wait tbh, it will be excellent to explore its performance without worrying about points on the license.

Cheers,
