Indicators not working on S3

So car working fine, in my garage for a week comes out and now indicators not working! Hazards fine though.

Have checked the two fuse boxes in glove box, all fuses seem okay. I presume there isn't another fuse box tucked away? Located the silver cylindrical relay under passenger footwell which i think is the indicator relay. Its screwed in from under dashboard though so not sure how to remove it? All earthing seems fine too but who knows!

By coincidence or maybe on the same fuse, the rear reversing lights aren't working but not sure if they were before. Bulbs seem fine. The handbook helpfully doesn't state which fuse is which and no numbering in fuse boxes. Love Lotus!

Any ideas please? many thanks

The reverse lights problem is likely to be the connection to the switch which sticks out of the back of the gearbox. You'll see the two wires. Clean the connectors and try again. If not it might be the switch itself. Unscrew it and test on the bench with a multimeter. Cheap to replace if that's the issue but more often than mot it's down to grubby connections.

You indictor problem could be the connections to the stalk if the hazards are working ok.

ghe67 (Georgio) posted up a colour coded wiring diagram a couple of years ago. which might help you work things out.   I'm sure you'll be able to find it using the search tool

Normally Aspirated - and lovin' it!

I had the reversing light connections fall off the switch and short circuit to ground through the silencer! This blew the fuse...and  the same fuse does other things as well, finding it was down to the reversing light connectors took a while! As has been said, indicator problems are usually due to bad earthing somewhere. Also that cylindrical silver flasher unit thing fails too...it's the same as the one on the Morris Minor, which might have been helpful 25 years ago! My old neighbour had a boxful of these, and I'm still running on the one I changed in 1995ish.

Thanks for the all the advice esp Sparky.

All working now, as suspected it was the contact on the indicator stem for the indicators. Took of s/wheel shroud and gave it a good clean.

Reversing lights also bad connection this on the rear of the gearbox where electrical reverse connection is.

Thanks again.

mine had a lug snapped off the switch! I cut back some of the black plastic with my dremel and soldered a new wire on
