Cabin Glass

I fitted new gas struts some time ago, and now,,,

the forward mounts for the gas struts have distorted and pushed against the glass, which has broken the adhesive seal.

I have the glass out, the surround I'll remove tomorrow, then get stuck into replacing or strengthening the strut mounts.

Anyone else experienced this?

Sounds like the wrong, too powerful, struts :-)

Delivering the glass and the surround tomorrow, then I'll look at the brackets, one has definitely twisted. Bloody noisy to drive without the glass.

I have the frame and glass back, nice job. I have the struts and lower brackets out, both distorted, but not badly, I will gusset them at the weekend. Priority is to get the glass back in, and ditch the ear muffs !

Yes, I've just bought a 88 Turbo and I noticed the glass was actually bent and the strut brackets had been pushed right up against the glass. The previous owner had installed struts that are way to powerful and the boot shoots up like a rocket !!!. I had to space out the bracket with two 5mm washers, all OK now.
