I am probably late in spotting this but saw in Practical Classics an article about wedges and why now is the time to buy.  Needless to say the Elite was featured - came out pretty well

Not completely flattering no, but the conclusion was broadly buy one now while you can.

So if you heeded the advice, how much would you have to pay for a nice, not a project, Elite?

Roughly 5k they say.

And its been 5k for the last how many years? How many good Elites are there out there, and how many new buyers would it take to that tip the supply/demand curve into sensible territory. I have only really been an owner and casual observer for a couple of years, but I suspect this conversation has been going on for many years. When and if, will the Elite/Éclat currency start to improve.

There are some cars that have never captured the imagination unfortunately. Something needs to stick in the collective mind - the Esprit has the Bond connection which will keep it up there. Unless Lotus see's a resurgence on the track that restores it's reputation as a manufacturer of world beating cars then the Elites/Eclats/Excels will always be cheap. Even though they are becoming increasingly rare this will just serve to help people forget them.
