Stupid question on oil pump...

This is a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway...

 

I'm replacing my worn oil pump as part of an entire engine rebuild (well you would, wouldn't you!) and the new pump I bought from SJ has a mark on the rotor and annulus which is presumably so that you get it matched up correctly? But I assume it doesn't matter which way round I put it in the housing as long as both of those marks are on the same side. Is that correct?

Seems a perfectly reasonable question to me...   There is nothing in the manual regarding 'direction  of travel'  So I would fit either way around.  I don't recall there being any marks on mine, but it would seem good practice to fit them fitting the same way, as you suggest

It looked symmetrical but you never know. No idea about the marks but it seemed logical to keep them facing the same way as it looked like they'd been put on there for a reason?
