Rear Defroster

Recommended Posts

The heat traces in the rear window have long stopped functioning, and I'd like to remove them entirely. Has anyone tried and succeeded in doing this? So far I've tried acetone and gently scraping with a razor blade, and neither had any observable effect. I suspect they are baked into the glass, but hope not.

Thanks for any help or advice.

Scott

No idea about removing, but any second hand ones?

You can get repair kits too, which have a high copper content I believe, and look pretty good with due care. Might be better to keep if possible?

Previous owner of mine removed all the conductive tracks with a razor blade. It does not remove the actual rear window tracks but does get rid of the patchy line look. I would have preferred him to have left it so I could have tried to repair it, now I have no chance!
