V8 secondary fuel pump - same as S4 ?

Anyone have any reliable info on replacement secondary fuel pump for the V8.

There plenty of "in tank" pumps suitable for the S4 at around £90 which is a bit cheaper than the V8 pumps which are £550 + VAT  !!

Any cross references ?

Seen Carter P74006 but loathe to get one shipped over only to find it is not suitable

secondary is the same as the primary -if one of them (mostly the primary) is running 'rough' and is dated, as a short repair just swap them over  -the former secondary was not running all the time, so does have less 'hours' in use.

As soon as you have the pump assembly out of the car you can also measure the dimensions and you willl find varoius aftermarket ones

Thanks for that Gunter.

Have it good authority the pumps are the same as a AC Delco Chevrolet Corvette from 1995 -

Just bought one from the USA so when it gets here will confirm if it is the correct replacement.

Pretty sure its the secondary pump which is failing - cars accelerates well up to 5000 - 5500rpm then falls on its nose so my reckoning is either secondary fuel pump or secondary injectors.

Since Ive bought the fuel pump its bound to be the injectors !!

Just  my newer laptop with Peters ODB software so may get achance to capature some data this evening

Cheers

Paul at those revs I don't even think the secondary pump has kicked in

It could be the primary pump or the fuel pressure regulator

I have a gauge you can fit on the Schrader valve and drive around doing various tests whilst looking at the pressure

If you want to borrow it you are welcome

BTW I replaced my pumps with the Walbro 370

When I removed the originals the motor carbon brushes on the primary were shot

Regards

easy test for secondary injectors is a 'comparision' test .. simply undo the hollowed scres there on the fuel lines and replace them with ordinary metric screws.

This way the additional fuel feed is blocked, and if you notice now a change in characteristic compared to the prior runs you can be sure the secondary injectors have worked as meant to..

but it will not help of course if there really was a problem on the secondaries
