Totally illegal in Australia. Same as the tyres.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Yes they are legal, but they are restricted as to where they can travel and they are speed limited to 100km/h. I think they may also have a restriction on times they can be on-road.

I can just imagine CHiPs giving Ronin similar restrictions

What did the CHiP say? Open the trunk sir, I see you have an engine in the trunk, does this belong to you? and where are you transporting this engine?

Your body language is: "im not really putting up with this crap because I'm the good guy and your a c.."

CHip "I'm doing a great job here"

and CHip #2 "I'm going to look over there where there isn't anything going on because I don't want to be here, do I look good in a uniform?"

the guy behind you is saying "Now I really I wish you weren't doing that and I want you to stop"

Though here the officer looks to be writing out a citation, the fuzz are often car fanatics themselves. I have been pulled over at least once in the past, when it was patently obvious I was breaking no rules of motoring, where the cop simply wanted to have a look at the car---a model that had only been recently released. He was actually mildly apologetic, and put me at ease right away. And the only time a police vehicle has ever set wheels upon my driveway was when I had the Esprit parked outside, a week after acquiring it. Again, he and his sidekick were merely interested in getting a better look at the car. On a third occasion I had just parked the car in a shopping center lot when a fellow and his son pulled up next to me in a souped up Mustang (think Steve McQueen and "Bullitt") to admire and ask about the car. They were in civilian clothing, but in the course of the conversation it came out that the driver was an off duty cop shopping at the same store. We may sometimes resent their intrusion upon our desires to push the edge of the driving envelope from time to time, but for the most part they're still human.

Anyway, I don't think Frank's new project is in any serious jeopardy, as it sits so low to the ground that it will likely slip "under the radar." :)

For our less maritime oriented enthusiasts, to more clearly draw the parallel... :)

And the more "integrated" version (bottom carrier)...

Hopefully Frank will remember to install the drivetrain on his new toy in a manner which reflects the correct automotive direction of travel, though I suspect it will move along quite smartly in reverse as well, should needs arise. busted%20cop.gif:D
