..at least, now you have enough material around you -to keep the Porsches of from your neck (or lane, in this case) ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

I now have a rear view monitor in my goggles so that I can see the bastards..

It works perfect with no need to refocus, just a quick glance down and with a 50* field of vision the image is not distorted... :smoke:

New 5 spokes with slicks showed up yesterday..

Is the clam getting painted? Or does it have to be removed to change the wheels?

I'm about to install some driving lights into the front bumper and then it's primer and paint while we run hose and brake lines and so on... All the carbon fiber work is done and I am now a happy camper.. ;)

Don't you just love this "Jekyll and Hyde" stuff, Frank? Over in the "Increased Brand Visibility" thread we're all having such a rollicking food fight over F1's worth as an advertising vehicle (in both the literal and figurative sense), with the slings and arrows flying everywhere, and over here we (often the very same adversaries!) are all prostrate in adulation, bestowing benediction upon your magnificent-morph project to create the planet's quickest 211. It's got to be an interesting challenge to ward off a flying tomato with the one hand while simultaneously installing a piece of carbon fiber with the other. :rambo:

Anyway, I continue to monitor the progress of your latest reincarnation with avid fascination. Never lift! :D

Someone has to throw shit into the fan to liven the place up so what the hell I'll do it, we're car guys right ? :smoke:

Here is what it looked like this morning..and now it's time to redesign the front fenders for a bit more room for the 245/40/17s so that I can get a proper ride height again...It seems that the taller front tires were not in my original plan [as if I had one] and what the hell I'm gettin pretty good with foam and carbon fiber now..

Looks better then I even imagined..

It seems as it's one of those projects that when it ends you might feel a sense of what do I do after this (not that you wont be grinning ear to ear while driving). But with that much HP the mechanical side of things may keep you on your toes :D

If the only thing constant is change, then why do we resist change the most?

Now don't forget to add that Lotus roundel once you're done.

Is the *Le-Mans Prototype class* still free for privateers without actual FIA-championship points ?

..the Nissan-Deltawing car raced there, so Frank -why not try to take part with this special creation, the dimensions would fit in the grid !

Should be at least an good opportunity to show how good (or bad?) the package is -especially compared to those big players ..the ones you like to beat so much ;)

Maybe Lotus will sponsor a little wind tunnel time to see if that (developed in F1) rear exhaust to rear wing relationship actually works. :innocent:

with the difference that the amount/speed of air passing an jet-engine/helicopter turbine is notable different to an F1 car ..so there is no wounder that no significant gain on the F1 application was made

Remember with F1 there are rules that stifle everyone competing, every slight improvement is just a way to get around those rules. Think what the cars would be like without all those stupid rules.

If the exhaust helps with downforce cool I know it won't hurt and will not coat the back of the car.

The real improvment will not be so much aero but the mechanical grip of the 245/345 slicks for the speeds I travel in the real world..

But so far all of the lemons encountered during the build have all turned into lemonade...

The recent addition of the 245/40/17 front tires filled the wheel perfectly from a side view but once the car was lowered a quick peek told the cold fact, there was no clearence to the lowered front clam between the two inch taller and two inch wider tires.

So it was time to break out the saw once again and get to work remodeling the front clam, now comes the lemonade.

The deck fender gate has gone up from 1" to 2" and moved in 2" on each side to give the front tires all the room they need underneath.

So my lemonade will be better front aero down force at lower speeds.. :smoke:

Here is a stock 211 vs mine..

wouldn't someone 'with a plan' build the car up from ground (and balanced with additional wheight), not with the wheels in the air ?

..as for balance and downforce -have you made calculations on wheight transfer on braking, and balance changes between low speed cornering and high speed straights ??

Dude what the hell go you think this is..? This is a nutters car project built from a ball of string and "crazy" glue.

As far as Brake Balance is concerned I can help set up if you are inclined to ask for it...(i does not mean buying anything. Purely setup.)

I will listen to anyone... I am running the Lotus sport AP 4 pot up front and the standardLotus two pot on the rear with an AP bias valve.. No ABS.

The car hasn't turned a wheel yet so right now I'm all ears..
