I lied.....

It was my first time back in the saddle last night since the surgery and the first time at speed in over a year... The changed gear ratios are spot on and the car is just fuckin mental fast...

Happens to the best of us, Frank.

So am I.. :turned:

This will be a canyon / track car unlike any other Lotus when I'm done.

It will have just enough wheel track to make it between the lines..

@Thomas: just a question on side, if the idea/principles of compound-charging are unique ..what have Scania or Lancia done in the past on the engines ? .. as I would say, even as it turns out really powerfull on Ronins car -it is not a unique or new invention ;)

I don't think anyone said it was a new invention but it is the first time with a 2ZZ Toyota engine and the first time in a Lotus with any engine and it works perfectly without any draw backs.

It is the most powerful streetable 2ZZ engine I know of...I guess that makes it unique eh ? Oh what about the dual fuel setup ?

The idea of compond charging is in itself unique ..

That's what Thomas said -nothing else I wanted to comment ..anyway

-Ronin ..it is good to see that, after all the global discussions about your driving style, you still have the energy to get the impression everone likes to 'attac' you, and therefore you have to :2guns: yourself ?

So we can at least expect the "new" car will be as impressive as the old :smoke:

The precived attacks are just comments lost in translation and I appoligize for always jumping the gun..

The new 211 will be my last wild ride and it should be even better than the old car when we're done.... My buddy Mike and I will be building it a bit wider by 5" up front and 10" in the rear in order to cover the 345 slicks....

Now to get my old ass in shape so that I can get out of the dam thing..

And will you be "borrowing" anything from the '61 Impala, Frank? :)

:w00t: Gnarly! 635/30/22 racing slicks?

Are you using the rocket pig's motor in the 211 project?

The pig's skin is torn off down to the bone and the rocket sled begins. Same rocket pig motor / gearbox.

The all new custom 211 bodywork has begun with rear flairs and a widening of the front clam by 4" to cover the rubber for the wider front track due to wheel offset.

The rear suspension will get new hubs to allow for proper lower ride height due to the taller rear slicks and help remove some of the unsprung weight due to the larger wheels and tires.

Where does one go to have a custom 211 body fabricated? SoCal has never lacked for esoteric automotive cottage industries, but this request must be very rare.

The stock 211 replacement pannels are from Junks in the UK, the custom tweeks will be from me over here in a shed out in bumfuck Ca.

Matt said he will do another video on the rocket sled. By the way the bits are coming out of a shed only 5 mi. from the official Skunk Works hanger in Palmdale Ca.

Since it's a street car and not a full blown racer it still fits in with the show... I will put it on the track to see what it can do at full tilt..

Check out http://www.lotussport.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4142 for the latest updates from the shed in bumfuck...

Frank,

I have one curious question...If I recall correctly ( mainly on rather large pickup truck and trailers ) once you go over a certain width on a vehicle there is a requirement for 3 clearance lights in the center. With your design being almost as wide as the lane will you have to add these in ?

Looking towards the ongoing thread here...

Frank, on your LotusSport thread you make mention (late May comments) about the possibility of incorporating AWD. Any update on this?

I've abandoned the allwheel drive thought since I think I'll have enough grip with the larger rear tire. There would be too little weight on the front axel and nothing but power on corner exit understeer and I just don't want to do any more R$D...

Frank,

Which leads me to ask, what is the front:rear weight ratio you are trying to achieve and how close to it do you think you will come ?

Shame about the AWD. Every vehicle I had owned that had AWD was sheer madness ( in a good way ) to drive, well almost every one...the 4MATIC has its sedate side.

That's a hard one to answer since I will just have to deal with what ever it is... My battery and alcohol tank will be as far forward as possible but there is really nothing to move up front. So it looks like grip and brake balance will dictate how it feels...

It'll be like most mods on this car, a little seat time at easy speeds and work my way up to see what I've done. So far most guys are telling me the 211 feels much like an early Porsche with a learning curve, since I brake early for safety sake on the open road I don't see it being too bad..

I think it's fast enough…maybe
