Leather slipping on the instrumentation board just under front screen.

Hi all,

Have a friend who just bought a 1989 Esprit Turbo carburettor model.

The leather on the instrumentation board have let go and became smaller just on the middle in the front, near the front screen lower edge.

 

Are there any particular Things to do, and not to do?

The leather closest to the windscreen (the black area) wraps under the glass, unfortunately.

 

If the leather is ripped from sun exposure, the glass must come out to replace it. That's a BIG risk, as Esprit windshields are pricey.

 

 

 

If it is just pulling taught but not ripped, liberal applications of Connolly Hide Care (formerly Hide Food) will keep the leather supple.

The screen is broken and out, so should be easier.

Yes I saw your other post about the spacer blocks, after responding to this one.

 

 

So, replace the leather THEN install the new screen.
