Still unbeatable to cruise open with my TurboEsprit convertible through the autumn scenery here near the alps.

What is it exactly that people don't like, I'm genuinely interested as it seems to polarise opinion. Is it the whole concept of a drop top, because if Lotus had decided on a convertible it couldn't really look much different.

Or is it the details? The engine vent/louvre is a bit hamfisted, and the "quattro" arches a bit dated now (should have some on the front as well by rights). The tacked on wing looks wrong but would look wrong on a coupe too.

In the garage no-one can hear you scream

Maybe why Lotus never done it themselves then! hahaha

For me I dont know why but Italians like Giugiaro can do style and this just doesnt look stylish. I know the turbo's look a bit brash but this chop looks like it was designed by some geezer under the arches.Look like its trying to hard...actually looks a bit Lego to me!!

The rear spoiler and window frames just don't work, and overall it just looks pimp my ride! the price is way too high just because its rare does not make it guaranteed to be desirable.......I don't like the Turbo Esprit bodykit, unless its on a black car but for me I like the cleaner lines of the N/A much better. If it was half price it would still struggle to sell. Maybe try fitting some 20" chrome wheels and a big bass speaker and some rich chav will buy it? some cars just don't work as a drop top, this my friend is at the top of the list!

The style is very typical of the "speedster" look that became popular in the early 80s. I think it started with the Bertone Athon concept car, even GM did the same with the Corsa. Danger Mouse's car is a dead ringer, it even has upturned Rover SD1 taillights!

Hi to all on this section of the forum.

I like it, love the colour, not sure about the wing on the back, but I don't like the wing on the Excel either, spoils the line.

John.
