Alternator plug wiring

Paul Coleman

Recommended Posts

This car is really beginning to get on my **** now. I bought an alternator plug as there wasn't one on my loom when I got the car (S1). However, having looked at it I can't plug it in because the oil filter housing is in the way. Does anybody have a picture of how their alternator is connected please? Does yours have a plug?

Thanks, Paul.

Okay thanks, at least I'm not being a complete idiot (which makes a change hahaha). My car had nothing connected to the alternator and the wiring loom had been bastardized so I naturally assumed there would be a plug on the alternator - wrong again!!

Cheers, Paul.

Nope, two thick wires and one thin one.  I just happened to have this pic on my laptop so if you want a more specific shot I can do it at the weekend when I am working on the car.

And tightening the alternator is currently my new most hateful job.

No, I'm sorted now thanks. I can throw the new plug I just bought away as it's surplus to requirements... I wish I had a pound for every pound I've wasted on this car hahahaha

Paul.
