Movement/play in Probax drivers seat

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have some 'play' in the Probax drivers seat on my 2008 Exige.

Means the seat can rock a couple of mm's which isn't great, the play is between the seat fixings which sit in the runner channels and the runners themselves.

The car has done less than 10k so I'd be suprised if this is casued by wear in the runners themselves.

Does anyone else have this issue and found a way to cure it?

thanks

It will be worth taking the seats out and having a look at the condition of the runners. If the bolts aren't loose, this is the only place that the play will come from.

They do wear and warp, they have a lot of forces to deal with and I believe this isn't an uncommon problem.

I think there's a certainly amount of de-assembly and re-assembly of the runners which will help get them back to original and tight again with some 'tweaking' along the way.

How long have you had the car, any warranty that can be claimed under? If not, I think you'll be looking at £300+VAT for a pair (unless you join TLF as a full member and you'll get 10% off from most dealers).

Thanks all, I've only just bought the car and it does have warrenty, but as it's just gone through MOT with no advisory about seat movement I'd guess I'll have a hard time making a claim for 'wear and tear'.

Wonder if I can eliminate the play between the balls and runners with a thin strip of stainless steel?

Cool, Just need some bigger balls then :D

Not quite got my head round now the runners work yet, but if it's the balls wearing the runner they sit in, I was thinking slide in a thin strip of stainless steel for the balls to run on which would take up the play.. ?
