Solenoid Replacement Lotus Europa s 2006 x2 (wastegate)

I wanted to know how much is resonable to charge for both solennoid vales to be replaced on a lotus europa s 2006, i feel that I have been ripped of by the garage as they quoted 2 hours but charged for 5. I would like to know if any one else has had them replaced?

I replaced mine on a VX220 so am guessing it's basically the same unless there is an access problem to the one at the front side of the engine. From memory took me an hour or less for both including finding them.

The location is exactly the same as on the VX220/ Speedster turbo.

I was trying to figur out how much it would cost for both of the valves and a cam belt, as I think I'v been ripped of they are charging me 8 hours labour at £55 per hour, seems very expencive?.

It's probably worth asking on the Europa S facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/lotus.europa/ ) - there's a few owners there who have had the solenoids done so might be able to help. Access to the front one is awkward, as Trevor says, and perhaps more awkward than on the VX because of the tailgate, but unless removing the tailgate is a hassle and is required then I can't see why it'd require that much extra labour (but I've not had mine done yet!).

 

Your location says "Warwick" - it might be a bit far from you, but the previous owner of my Europa S always took it to Brooke-Kensington and was full of praise for them (they're Bicester way).
