DanR 69
Why did Lotus fit a 7 bar oil gauge the max is around 3-4 bar anyway? I have a 5 bar VDO oil gauge which I'd like to swap for the 7 bar one that's standard. My maximum pressure, once warmed up, is around the 3 bar mark which is only half the available scale. At idle and when the oil temp is about 180 degrees, it's barely off the mark. With the 5 bar gauge I'd expect a better and easier indication of my oil pressure especially at glance. Has anybody done this swap and is there anything else I need to consider? Quote DanR
scoule 0
The sender and gauges are a matched pair. You need a 5 bar sender for the 5 bar gauge! The 7 bar sender in my car died under warranty, they replaced it with a 5 bar sender but had to change the gauge too! This was on a late model Excel, but I believe it's the same on the earlier Esprits.
