LPE417W - Esprit Essex

Recommended Posts

Does anyone own the above car. I ask because I am in contact with the original owner of my car and he traded in this Essex to buy it. I told him I would try and track down whether the car is still on the road.

It is Essex 006 that was supplied new to a Mr J W Hoops and owned latterly by Paul Johnson before it was exported to Japan. All according to the Essex database. I think there is a pic of one in Japan (partly covered by a plastic sheet) somewhere but I don't know if its the same one.

This may well be No.006 as its in Japan - Not sure about the wheels though! Seems to have lost its plaque as well if it is........    :

Thanks Neil

Looks like it might have been resprayed given the missing decals. Colour also doesn't quite look like Essex blue - perhaps a tad light? Wing mirrors are blue but interesting that it has a very early rear bumper without the letters LOTUS embossed. Also looks like the louvres on the back have a single support rather than the two that lotus moved to sometime in 1981.

Could well be 006 or a copy based on an early turbo

Yes Barrie - also sits at rear with negative camber like the early Turbos...... I would ask but the web site is completely Mandarin!

Look at the front indicator lenses. They are not very early ones. Different to your Essex Barrie I bet?

Yes they are however the same as my 1986 S3 - they are the later front indicator lenses.
