Fred Basset 0
Do we know of the opening time yet? I am going to do the Norwich to Bristol run, and either need to set out quite early and possibly stop that night , or travel the day before and stop the night before, rather than drive al in one day. On a related note, any others planning an over-night one, few drinks, meal etc? If so which hotel have people considered? Andy Andy, I'm going to be staying over, as I'm coming across from Peterborough way. Have not started looking at hotels yet but I might be up for a beer. matk 17
I believe Pete Gentilli went after a steering column after my positive experiences of a new one and was told they're now out. However last time I looked it was still showing through the shop on the official Lotus site? It's possible I suppose that the web site is not up to date? yeller77 98
The first 2 days are clubs only, LEW, LEF, Excel, M100 club etc (I think Club Lotus too) Can I send a "representative" if unable to attend personnally??
Advantage 910
And another question..... Will we have to bring a bag of gold coins or is the wharehouse (you won't believe how I nearly spelt that!) set up for plastic transactions? Also, any Canada guys wanting SMALL items shipped over let me know. We're off to Banff at the end of March (for the snow) and if you want anything from the sale that I can squash into my suitcase, I'll be glad to help. I'll post the item(s) on once we get to your country. (Obviously a chassis or engine would be a problem, but sensible requests could be entertained)

Jonathan 13
Quick question on how this is going to be fair ? Looking at the list there are quite a few items that are going to be on pretty much 100's of people's list (brake upgrade, gearboxes etc) whats to stop people buying the lot up and having them in the parts bin at home and depriving someone else getting them on a running Esprit ? I have need for a lot of spares for the track car project but I don't see it fair to clean the stock out only to have them in boxes in the roof space of my garage (now you all know where to look for Esprit spares eh ?). I take it this is going to be 1st come 1st served, but I have visions of a lot of this stuff marked back up on eBay Quote facebook = [email protected]
andecorp 12
What chance do people like myself have of scoring some of these parts? Obviously, I won't fly to the UK for the sale, but do I have to wait until the sale is over to see what is left over, or can I get my request in before that somehow?
Bibs 11,167
You'll have to wait I'm afraid. The remaining items will be listed on the Lotus website and you can order them from there for delivery to your local Lotus dealer. iainskea 30
It is my understanding.........no, I know as I sat with Neil (gooner) and discussed it. It's really quite simple The first 2 days are clubs only, LEW, LEF, Excel, M100 club etc (I think Club Lotus too) Items will be sold to attendees in the first instance Items pre-ordered will then be picked over the next few days, which will also be general public days. So to get there if you want, for example, the Wastegate Diaphram, is essential as there is just one. Priority WILL BE GIVEN TO LEF AND CLUB MEMBERS PREORDERING OVER THE GENERAL PUBLIC, but you will lose out to those attending on the first day. Neil has said that if it is quiet on the second day they will start picking pre-orders then. There is method in this madness as it takes longer, costs more to post items out than it does for people to collect and these are at such good rates that I'm sure profit is non existant anyway. Hope that helps.. I'm in the same boat mate, but the above speaks of pre-orders - which I intend to use through LEW. After the cat scratching on the day of the sale, on the next day the pre-orders will be worked through and set aside. I think you have to nominate a dealer to have the parts delivered to. matk 17
I can appreciate people's worries if they can't get there on the day and I suspect that certain peoples feeling are going to run very high as we approach the sale. From my own viewpoint though I am taking a days hols, booking a hotel the night before and paying the petrol to get from Manchester - Bristol return, to ensure I get a fair crack at what I want, and thats a choice I've made for myself, as I'm prepared to spend the time in order to get there early. I'd be pretty miffed if I did all that and found the items I wanted sold out in advance via email. Of course I'd be gutted if I couldn't get there at the thought of all these lovely shiny spares selling out before I could get them, but I personally can't see a fairer way than first come first served. I would say that though wouldn't I! I strongly agree with Jon's point re eBay. Anybody remember the wheels that started turning up there after Lotus sold a few off dirt cheap a couple of years back? I'd support signing a disclaimer on the door to guarantee I wouldn't buy for trade. While I'm talking about traders I think we should remember our specialists too who stand to lose quite a bit here. I was talking to Pete at PNM a while back about this and he made the point that any of the parts in the sale that he has in stock automatically devalue to the sale price. I'll give you an example, the steering column at Stoneleigh I bought reduced from Edited January 5, 2007 by matkutub Quote Regards Mat

dynwolf 0
Can I send a "representative" if unable to attend personnally?? I have the same question. Being out here on the Left Coast US with a demanding employer and no vacations allowed in January, I'm in a bit of a bind. I have an associate who's more than happy to drive down and pick up what I need (my car's off the road with right front suspension damage), and I'm a Club LEW member, but he's not. Any ideas? Thanks guys. JM

matk 17
Hi Kimbers I wasn't trying to make out that we should feel sorry for the specialists, I agree with you and your points. I feared this thread was about to descend into a list of "shouldn't they do this that way" debates and the point I was trying to make was that there are bound to be all sorts of dissapointed parties who would prefer things done another way, whatever the arrangements are, and we shouldn't get bogged down in debates about changing this and that. The mention of specialists was intended simply as one example of this. Apologies if I came across negative, I'm not, and am fully supportive of the sale and how it's been arranged and was trying to say this. Quote Regards Mat
