Well the old Eclat went for her MOT today, thats 6 times I have tested her now and once again she went through with no advisories, brilliant for an 79 car. the best bit was that this is the first time in 6 years she has gone through with a fully working speedo. Carbs were a little off so came home and did a bit of fine tuning and now she is running like a dream again. Once more I have to think to myself, why the helll am I selling her. Well after best part of 7 years ownership, ex thousnad miles, 3 tours of Scotland, bucket loads of fun, skinned knuckles, swear words my wife never knew existed during engine and gearbox rebuilds, not to mention a rear axle rebuild it's now time for her to go to the next stage of her eventfull life. This is Old Banana the ex Andrew Ferguson car that was owned by Lotus F1 team for the first 5 years of her life. She probably has the best documented history file of any Eclat ever built and all authenticated by Lotus, even just last month I recieved a write up and a copy of a photograph and press report of her at Lotus headquarters where she was filmed with Noel Edmunds and Andrew Ferguson while they were doing the documentary on the banned F1 car, now how good is that.

Anyway she is being sold to make way for another project and I know fine I will kick myself as soon as she goes, she was even used as the brides car when Wendy and I got married just over 2 years ago, sentimental, yes but time has come to say tata.

 

Good luck to her next keeper and I hope they have as much enjoyment from her as we have had.

Hi Dave, I am sure she will, I have even boxed up a load of spare parts for you that I wont need so that will keep her in fine fettle for the next couple of years anyway. Just glad she is going to a good home.
