Great news, many congratulations!

It does rain a lot here, but your car will never know that!

Enjoy!

Keep us posted about how you get on. Really interested to know how it compares to your 211 and hope you take some video of the car in action for us all to see. Laguna Seca please!

Jack, can you keep us posted on how you get on with the xtrac gearbox. Interested in one for my cup and looking into the kit but as yet no-one seems to know the exact price of it other than it's a lot.

Just interested to see how durable and reliable  the box turns out to be, if you don't mind.

Will do.

I've heard the Xtrac box, itself, is quite durable; although the clutch may be an issue if not used as intended, i.e., not suitable for "stop and go" maneuvers.   ;)

Well, we will see.  I have faith that Motorsport did the proper calibration and verified that when doing their test drive.

In any event, the shop I'll be using has a good amount of experience with the Xtrac (plus paddles) and calibration, as they have been doing track support for an Evora GT4 for the last 2 years.  I know they went through some calibration issues when they added paddles in order to get the flat-shift and auto-blip to work properly.

Well, it's time to get ready for some driving ..... car is settled into its new home .... Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch.   :)

Can anyone guess who's hanging with the V6 CupR .... picture on the wall visible in photo #2?

Ayrton, Alain, Nige and Nelson?

All Lotus drivers at some point apart from Alain.

You are correct ...   4 drivers with 11 world championship titles ..... a close-up

Love that picture.

Now where could I get some JPS overalls like Ayrton's?

I'm loving this car, especially the Xtrac 426 gearbox ---- more break-in miles needed.  Luckily, I live around the corner from a private race track.   :)

It's crazy how much better the CupR's look, trouble is they look like they're packing 600bhp. One of the best looking race cars you can buy and I'm not sure you could have done much better than Chrome Orange. I think we're all hoping for some video. Until please do keep the pics and thoughts coming!

Thanks, Pits  --  600 HP might be nice except it would destroy the "momentum" nature of this car .... I was trying to get away from "point and shoot" cars when I sold my 996 GT2   :D

No exciting video yet ... I might be able to post some video highlighting the rapid shifts of the sequential.  I was supposed to keep the RPMs below 5K until the tranny flush, due after ~ 50km.

Some photos of the underbelly of the beast while the under-tray was off for said fluid change ;)  .....

It would be a real shame to get that all dirty!

I agree about the merits of it being a 'momentum' car. It's great to have a car that can put each and every horsepower to good effect, cars that you have to wait until they're pointing in a straight line can be a bit frustrating. At least you have a little more power and a lot less weight to haul around than a standard car. I'm really interested to see how it compares in terms of lap time to your 211, which looked to be a very fast and sorted example.

I'm hoping to rent a V6 CupR for a round of the Lotus Cup next year. I put it off this year while I got some more race experience in my Caterham. Between that and running my V6 Cup on a few track days I reckon the time has come. It's expensive at around £2000 for a round but my own Caterham costs me quite a bit for a round anyway and I reckon it will be worth it overall. The dream is to race at the Brands Hatch GP track during the Lotus festival. So do pass on any tips about how to get the most out of them!

You will have FUN -- life is short, go for it!

The underbelly  shots were taken after driving it for 50 miles or so ... we don't have much rain in the deserts of Nevada (just sand), so no mess unless one has an off-road excursion.

Here's a very short video clip -- not exciting as I'm doing break-in, but several of my friends have been asking me how I like the sequential tranny and wondering if I will miss shifting my standard box.

Well, my answer:   I'm in love -- the Xtrac rocks and Lotus Motorsport did a great job programming/integrating the GCU and ECU.   Looking forward to finishing up the break-in, jettisoning the R-comps in favor of some Yoko slicks and seeing what this baby can do compared to my 2-Eleven.

Let the good times roll!

Love that gearbox, didn't see or hear any lurching or hard shifts. I'd love something like it for daily driving in the Evora .
