V8 tuneup parts and part#'s

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I would like to give my Esprit a good going threw over the winter.

I'm thinking the following should be included:

plugs,

wires,

coils,

02 sensors

maybe a new starter?  (it is 15 years old now)

What else should I add, and does anyone have official or after-cross part#  for these?

I have a dealer nearby but they service many brands, and I don't want to end up with a mixed bag of sensors and parts that they might "feel" are close enough.

I wouldn't change a perfectly good starter just because of it's age, if it's working fine leave it alone.

I'd be more inclined to give it an oil & filter change before you lay it up, get rid of the old before it's contaminants attack the bearing shells.

As its 15 years old I would be inclined to look carefully at those bits that could fail with big economic consequences:

Turbo oil and water hoses

Oil hoses to oil coolers

Mine failed after 11 and 12 years respectively.

If you do decide to change the 02 sensors do yourself a big favour and buy genuine Lotus sensors, I spent months chasing a misfire recently that turned out to be non Lotus sensors, the V8 is particularly sensitive....
