Just hoping someone might know them to save me pulling off the binnacle to have a look. Gauge bulbs are the standard 501 type. 6 required plus the ignition light bulb is also a 501. The warning lamps are 286 type. Just purchased 10 led 501 and 10 led 286 from Hong Kong. £0.99 each pack inc postage.(eBay) Got to be a bargain.

dixi4uk
Many thanks. Ordered a couple of sets myself Did you go for LED coloured bulbs on the instrument illumination? The supplier I used do red, green, blue and white. The only down side being that they say coloured have less output. By how much is not specified. Having once admired a Golf with coloured intrumentation I went for blue. If I've got it wrong I will have to order white. At £0.99 maybe I should order some more anyway. soldave
Nah, went for white. Have used coloured LEDs on my Evo in Japan and while it looked ok, I prefer the clean white look.
soldave
Well I got my dash bulbs installed last night. Am pretty pleased with them. Slightly strange was the IGNITION light which is a larger size (same as the gauges) compared to the other indicator lights. I also found my tach light in the wiring behind the dash which I was quite pleased with. Couple of the smaller gauges aren't much brighter, but I like the clean white look. While I was looking at lights I also got into my pin light that's supposed to light up the centre console. The light works but is not really illuminating. Got to the bulb but not seen that type before: screw-in (yes, I know that's not too special) but the top of the bulb is flat, probably to direct the light in one direction only.
soldave
Found out the pinlight bulb is size E10, but has a lens end. Not so easy to find, until you realise that you need a 12V bulb of this type, as somewhere the wiring has a resistor that takes the voltage down. Not been able to find one so have tried ordering an LED light with a diode on the end and will see how it works. Will try to make up a thread of all the bulb sizes for bulbs in the Eclats. So far we have: Headlight - H4 Front indicator - Front sidelights - Bonnet courtesy light - Rear lights/brake lights - Rear indicators - Reverse light - Number plate lights - Centre console pinlight - E10, lens end, 12V Gauge bulbs - 501 Dash Warning bulbs - 286 (x 6), 501 (x 2) Interior courtesy light - Interior seat pocket lights - Glovebox light -

You may need to play around with the resistor in the footwell, can't remember the value I use but I aimed for about 40mA flow.
el-torro
ignition light is higher wattage to enable alternator to work properly if it's an earlier model if memory works?
soldave
OK, bit of a report for people thinking of different bulbs. First oned that have arrived were for the front indicators and I ordered the ones below. Fitted them tonight and I've found that they don't protrude far enough to shine against the reflector (these ones are 34mm long). So while the LEDs are brighter than the standard bulb, the normal bulbs look brighter when all fitted up. I'm guessing that's the case with the brake lights (which I believe are the same bulb) but will confirm But luckily I did order these ones too which are another 16mm longer so hopefully they'll be brighter. dixi4uk
I think you will find that you will need a pair of stop and tail bulbs of the same design as the second picture. It is interesting what you found regarding the bulb design being too short as per the first picture. I have had these delivered too seem a waste of money from what you have found. The second picture seem to be a much better design. I will have to order some for the indicators and reversing lamps. Did you have any results regarding the replacement ignition light bulb (501) with Led? You had thoughts that changing from regular to Led was causing charging probs. soldave
Yeah, switched the IGNITION bulb back to a normal one and alternator was charging as soon as the engine fired up. Problem solved
Robbie
Hi anybody have success with the centre consul pinlight. Is an E10 12 v led the answer with the resistor bypassed. I bypassed the resistor as the pinlight bulb was too dull and blew it. Realised bulb was low voltages probably as stated here 2.5 volt.. Anyone had any success with bulb, resistor combo to actually light the panel ???. Further point as never seen another elite pinlight working can you see the instrument panel effectively lit by the original bulb. I can replace a 2.5 volt but unless the resistor is overworking through age and needs replacing I'm pretty good sure light will be poor. oilmagnet477
Robbie - check out @soldave other posts - pretty sure that he and someone else ( @Trunnion 74 I think) sorted this with LED option to good effect? Cheers Ant Quote Is the price for that bit in Yen or £?
