Installed Hyperflow cats, have a listen

Recommended Posts

Well I'm all finished the install and can report that both the Cats & exhaust tips were extremely easy to install, solid construction & very good quality. The only thing I came across is that the right side cat could be another inch longer, but was not a big deal. All in all I would recommend the Hyperflow cats & center exit straight pipes to everyone. The combination is quite a bit louder than stock, but not obnoxiously loud.

Check out the sound file below for sample, but keep in mind that the car is just idling in my garage and I only rev it up to 3,000 to 4,000 RPM for the sample, so I can only imagine that it would get quite a bit louder when driving and revved to 6800 rpm.

Very nice report, Bob. Thank you!

The exhaust sounds much more aggressive overall than the factory setup. The idle remains similar to stock, but the rev up is vicious!

Love the pictures, too.

Why did you remove the trunk? Is this procedure required for the cat/exhaust installation? Can't you perform the entire installation from the bottom of the vehicle?

Nice job, thanks again.

PS Now all we need is a performance take (driver feel and/or dyno)...factory versus Hyper-Flow rwhp. B)

Thanks for the kind words. :)

Yes, the whole installation can be done from the bottom of the car, however I removed the trunk floor for two reasons; I didn't know how difficult the turbo connection would be to break loose and I thought I would be able to get better leverage on the socket wrench when standing; also it made it a bunch easier when disconnecting and reconnecting the O2 sensors and checking the overall alignment of the system.

Hehe, you'll have to wait for a performance report as there is like 3 feet of snow in my part of the world :)
