here's a white one on ebay. (closed)

(BTW... one thing that's always confused me, it seems like the S shape was started up in 87 in the UK, but didn't make it to the US til 88?)

ok :)

that's cool :)

I've seen only one, in ratty condition... I don't know if these are known of too well... or how much of a price premium "collectible" status would bestow nowadays...

Hi Dan

I think you've picked up on the main points - Lotus built only 21 of these cars (officially) to celebrate the 21st Anniversary. They all had the two tone grey colour, with grey pigskin leather interior. Each one has a plaque inside, stated the number of the car in the graphics, and came with a certificate of authenticity from Lotus.

Don't know of any register for them, but two are currently for sale. One on LEW with only 262 miles for

I think you will find these special edition esprit HC's came in choice of three twin tone colours but dont know how many where produced in each colour.

Grey

Blue

Red

All had the matching luggage

Club lotus france refers to these models see these two links links ( in french so may need babefish) but the second one refers to the colours in english and has a nice piccy of the red version with luggage taken outside the factory.

Just found this advert which is of interest. It suggests there where 7 cars made in each colour.

The 1987 limited edition TURBO esprit was the rarest of all limited editions:only 21 cars were made to commemorate 21 years of the factory in NORFOLK.ALL CARS WERE RHD. 7 SILVER GREY CARS, 7 BLUE CARS, 7 RED CARS, ALL TWO TONE WITH MATCHING LEATHER/SUADE INTERIORS. The car for sale is number 17 and is one of the silver grey cars.It was bought new by myself in London ................."

Not much info to go on Dan reguarding value - It looks like one of the later G Turbos and could be anything from 10K upwards dependant on what the car is like - condition inside and out, mileage, service history ect ect.

Again, any Esprit is going to be worth what any other individual is prepared to pay for it. They are becoming very sort after in exceptional condition, but if alot of work needed, it will have an obvious effect on the residual value. Many owners (including myself 9 years ago) have bought 'cheaper' Esprits and get a bit of a shock when they find the cost to put right or bring up to the condition they require.

Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk - that will teach us to keep mouth shut!

Cynical hat on: A bit of paint and some graffiti writing on a run-out model does not make a more valuable secondhand car.

Value the car on it's condition as a 20 year old Esprit and then be slightly adventurous with your price purely for novelty factor.

I have some photos of what must have been the '86 or '87 Motor Show at the NEC when the 21 Years LE run was on the Lotus Stand. The stand car was on a turntable - Duo-Tone Red with Tan Leather/Suede/Pigskin whatever they called it. To me being an owner of a similar '87 G HC Turbo - the limited run was OK to have as I liked the Suede covered wheel and Luggage but that daft Italic script 'Limited Edition No.**' looks awful - like something you could get from Halfords and really ruined the cars...... If the car is mint with FSH and has the luggage then worth a slight premiun perhaps over a non LE HC Turbo but as has already been stated - virtually all Esprits value depends on condition which is mainly reflected on history/money spent etc.

Must dig them out and work out how to use the wifes scanner............
