GordonMasson
Hi folks, Quick update on the Plans for Sunday. Access to the track area will be available between 11:00 and 12:00 with the cars rides taking place from 14:00. Entry to the paddock is via the East gate opposite the Vale Hotel. The cars will be parked in the area to the rear of the grand stand. We have to get the cars set up in the static display area and there will be the usual safety briefings to take place before the public are allowed into the paddock area. Tea and coffee will be available at the track and the café in the museum will be open from about 10:30. After the safety briefings we will have the opportunity to “check the track” before taking the public out. PLEASE NOTE: This is a “fun day” not a “track day”. The track is small and there is not much in the way of a run off area. When it comes to taking the members of the public out, we are responsible for their safety. GTM will be putting out a press release this week in the local press along the lines of ….. On Sunday 2nd August the Lotus Enthusiasts Group Scotland will be hosting “The Lotus Day” at the Grampian Transport Museum. Now in its 4th year, this has become a very popular event, with Lotus cars from all over Scotland attending. 50 years of Lotus cars will be on show at the event; cars from the early 1960’s up to the very latest production cars which are capable of 0 – 60 mph times in less than 4 seconds and top speeds in excess of 170 mph. The event is very popular with club members and it gives them a unique opportunity, not only display their cars but also to take members of the public out for laps on the track. In addition to the track rides, there will also be a static display of some very rare cars including the first production Lotus Esprit and a Lotus Exige LF1, built to commemorate the 1st of 81 Formula 1 victories which was achieved by Sir Stirling Moss at Monaco in 1960. Lotus is synonymous with motor racing and their race pedigree can be seen clearly in the road cars they produce. The members of the Lotus Enthusiasts Group Scotland look forward to sharing “The Lotus Experience” with you on Sunday. I've had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn't it. Richard Gosling
OK - just to clarify - we need to be arriving between 11:00-12:00, right? When do we pack up and leave? The GTM website says the event is from 2:00-4:00pm, or are we expecting to keep it going until the usual museum closing time at 5:00pm? Do we need helmets for ourselves and/or passengers? I don't have any. Do we (and those arriving in our cars, I may have up to 3 children) get museum entry included? I think that's all my questions I can think of! Better get the vacuum cleaner and wax out...

GordonMasson
Hi folks Urgent reminder for information and pictures from some people please. See the list below for name and shame….. the information is coming from various different sources so apologies if I have missed someone’s details. Best place to post is on this page with picture if possible or mail to me at gordon.masson@subsea7.com. Please keep info and picture together otherwise it becomes a pain to sift through everything. All the information sheets will be printed out on Thursday evening. To answer a couple of questions: Access to the track area / arena for us will be available between 11:00 and 12:00 for us. After that they will close the outside gates so that we can get the static cars set up, have a bite to eat in the café and do a couple of laps. However, once again, I must stress this is not a track day. Passenger runs are due to take place between 2:00 and 4:00 pm but this may vary slightly depending on the number of people who want to take part in the rides. As far as I am aware the helmets rule was to do with the insurance liability from the SpeedFest event. I have not used them before at the Lotus day but no reason not to if you wish to. If you give me a list of people you would like to add to a “Guest list” who will not be arriving in with you as a passenger in your car, I will arrange with the museum to have passes / access made available to them. If you are arriving with a passenger in your car via the East gate you are already inside the Museum grounds so no tickets are required. If you need to get a hold of me my mobile number is 07775 701246 but please be aware that mobile coverage is poor at GTM. Thanks again for your support! Sorry, but I won't come if it's raining! M100 Elan SE (1990) Calypso Red   Cheers, Stewart (Stewart Cooper - St Cyrus)  Hi Stuart and welcome to the Forum, it will be good to meet you and see the car. Because this is an event that Grampian Transport Museum publicise and specify that there will be track rides and cars on display, we have to ensure that the cars are there for the people who have come to the museum to see them so I cant really list cars as weather dependent. Please come along anyway... the more cars we have there the better! I've had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn't it.
