Custom designed components / Accessories for your Evora

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

I was just wondering if there would be any components or accessories that you may like for your Evora?

Could be cnc machined or carbon fibre parts?

Let me know.....

Thanks,

Gordon

Interesting ideas. Trying to find a way of mounting them without having to drill holes - or at least no visible holes!

Windscreen pillars

Interior door handles

Wing mirror backs

Steering wheel trim

Switch panels

Air vent cowls

Most of this is CF wrapped on mine, but if I could get them at a half sensible price in CF I would. Only supplier I can find that does this want the best part of $11k.

I'd like the engine covers for the Exige V6 as they are currently plastic.

HKfever on Lotustalk will make almost all of the above ^

Indeed; and they'll also make my wallet substantially more lightweight. It's the one thing I dont enjoy being of Lotus Design. Hoping Gordon can do a better job at avoiding it :P

A-Pillar Fascias were on my radar:

Part Number: D132U4007 and D132U4008.

Currently injection moulded PMMA.

I think these would be ideal - and seem to have been popular on LotusTalk.

I will see on cost - would anyone else be interested in these?

Thanks,

Gordon

The centre air vent cowl would look really good - but I think the mould may be tricky - at least 2 parts and the tags to hold the component in place would probably have to be a bond on part, which again increases cost. Would look good though - nice centrepiece in the interior.

Might be depending on what they would cost.

Will get the ball rolling and see - Mansory ones are best part of £1000 which seems crazy to me!?

£980 on their webpage without shipping and what not.

I'm not sure if I should just get mine wrapped. On one hand I don't like to fake it on the other hand I don't see the point spending £1000 to save almost no weight anyway?

I agree - I hate faking - but I couldn't justify £1000 either.

Will see what I can do and let you know.

It would be good to be able to buy a harness bar that bolts into the bolt holes that the +2 rear seat belts bolt into (somewhere near the back window).  Would these be strong enough and at the right height?

Then I could fit a 4 point harness & ditch the incredibly unpleasant airbag steering wheel, & fit a nice round one that doesn't have those silly fat bits at 10 o'clock & 2 o'clock.

Or perhaps, if I could get hold of a second hand wheel, I could unpick the leather & see what's underneath, reprofile the wheel so it would have a more consistent shape to the cross section around the top half, & get it recovered & just put up with the flat bottom.

Is this what you are looking to get for a harness bar?

Thanks for posting, but no;  I was hoping for something that looks like the harness bar in my Elise - it's just a single bar that bends through a few degrees at either end & it bolts to the car, with one bolt at either end.

I really don't like the look of this Sector 111 solution - it will restrict the use of the luggage space behind the seats, it looks heavy, it looks expensive, and I don't really want to pay for something to be shipped from the States, then have to pay import duty too.
